Job Description

PURPOSE

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become England young lions & men’s disability nutritionist. The combined role will be responsible for developing and implementing nutrition strategies to optimise the performance & health of both squads. They will work closely with the team’s coaching, medical leads and support staff to educate players on the importance of nutrition to enhance overall performance and recovery.

The successful applicant will split their time between the young lions squad and the 4 disability teams (physical, learning, deaf and visually impaired). This impactful role will be responsible for the future of England men’s cricket, but also equally providing the same level of nutrition provision to the disability teams to become world leading.

This role includes a combination of remote working, as well as national and overseas travel.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the education and development of nutrition & health of players, promoting a food first approach to optimise the performance and recovery of players.

  • Administer thorough assessments of players’ nutritional needs including analysis of dietary habits and body composition, to develop individualised strategies and programmes in line with ECB senior men standards and direction.

  • Provide regular updates to Head Coaches, Physiotherapists, Physical Performance Coaches and Support Staff regarding individual player progress.

  • Communicate effectively with players families/guardians to involve them in the nutritional planning process and compliance with recommendations.

  • Collaborate with both medical teams to support injury prevention and recovery through appropriate nutrition strategies and protocols, implementing rehab plans.

  • Assess the need for and recommend appropriate supplements to fill any nutritional gaps in the player’s daily intake, ensuring it complies with anti-doping regulations.

  • Planning and coordinating overseas tours, including effective communication with hotels, stadiums and catering teams around menu’s, daily schedules and timings, ensuring elite standards are followed.

  • Staying up to date with the latest research and developments in sports nutrition to enhance knowledge and further improve the quality of provision provided to players.

YOU’LL HAVE:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Sport and Exercise Nutrition (MSc, PG Cert, IoPN)

  • Registrant on the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr)- Graduate registrant minimum

  • ISAK Level 1

  • UKAD Introduction to Clean Sport Certificate

  • Level 2 DBS check

  • Minimum 2+ years experience of working with professional athletes within a professional pathway and/or senior sporting environment

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate

  • Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel independently to various venues across the country
