Job Description
Please note this is a hybrid role based on the successful candidate working at least two days a week in our London office. Remote contracts would not be considered for this role.
Comic Relief reserves the right to close the role early if a large number of applications are received.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Creative Artworker is responsible for producing high-quality digital and print assets to support Comic Relief’s campaigns and initiatives. This junior role involves creating, adapting, and delivering a wide range of materials across digital paid media, email campaigns, social channels, the website, and printed formats.
Working as part of the in-house Creative Team, the post holder will collaborate with designers, copywriters, and colleagues across Communications, Fundraising, and Partnerships to ensure creative assets are engaging, accurate, and delivered to brief. The Creative Artworker will maintain brand consistency across all outputs, support the development of Comic Relief’s visual identity, and contribute to the translation of creative concepts into final deliverables.
The role also requires a high level of technical artworking expertise, including preparing assets for production, managing digital files systematically, and applying best practices in typography, layout, and digital design. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is essential, alongside the ability to work efficiently to tight deadlines. The post holder is expected to stay informed of emerging design trends and contribute innovative ideas to enhance the impact of Comic Relief’s creative work.
Key responsibilities:
Design & Artworking: Create, adapt, and roll out digital and print assets, including multiple versions, across a range of platforms while ensuring brand consistency and quality.
Brand Development: Help maintain Comic Relief’s visual identity, ensuring all creative output aligns with brand guidelines and best practices.
Concept Development: Work alongside designers and copywriters to bring creative concepts to life, translating ideas into engaging digital and print assets.
Production & Execution: Implement design changes efficiently, ensuring all assets are accurately prepared for final output within tight deadlines.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including communications, fundraising, and partnerships, to ensure creative assets meet campaign objectives and will resonate with target audiences.
File & Asset Management: Organise and manage digital files systematically, ensuring seamless workflow and accessibility across the team.
Software Expertise: Demonstrate strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), with the ability to apply best practices in typography, layout, and digital design.
Innovation & Trend Awareness: Stay up to date with the latest design and artwork trends, bringing fresh ideas to our creative projects.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Proven experience as a Creative Artworker or Graphic Designer in a fast-paced environment.
Expertise in digital and print artwork production, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of creative executions.
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising creativity and managing relationships with stakeholders as necessary.
Ability to work effectively as part of a creative team, offering support to others where needed and re-priortising work as needed
Understanding of UX/UI principles for digital assets, including web and social media content.
Strong typography, layout, and branding skills.
Experience in motion graphics or animation (using After Effects) is a plus.
A proactive mindset with a passion for creativity and innovation.
Desirable Criteria
Experience of producing assets for fundraising purposes
Experience or interest in producing visual assets for a comedic / entertainment purpose
Experience of deploying AI tools to increase or improve asset production
