Job Description

Do you know your BBC Breakfast from your Guardian Review?

Would you like to work with the team that publishes Zadie Smith, John le Carré, Dolly Alderton and Michelle Obama?

At Penguin General, Publisher of the Year 2018, we’re looking for a new member of our award-winning Communications team to get readers’ attention for our books and authors.

We are looking for someone with at least one year’s experience in either arts PR or events to join the Campaigns team at Officer level, to pitch for national PR coverage across print, broadcast and online outlets and timing that coverage to form attention grabbing campaigns to launch new book releases. You will secure coverage and social buzz across the UK media, plan and execute author events tours and launches, and get influencers talking online to increase the readership for our biggest authors, and help break tomorrow’s new talent.

We’re not worried about your current job title, but we’re looking for an excellent communicator, skilled at forming collaborative working relationships with both authors and colleagues. You’ll have an eye for what makes a good story, and know how to adapt your pitches to get the attention of different media outlets. You thrive in a busy press office and can independently manage competing demands on your time and work to deadlines. You’ll have exceptional attention to detail, be able to manage complex schedules and the logistics of events. You will be a voracious reader.

You’ll be a crucial member of a fun, dynamic and supportive team, have the opportunity to further your skills in PR and attend book events, festivals and media interviews with our wonderful authors.
