We are seeking a new independent member for the P&WC to fill one vacant position.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission is Britain's equality and human rights regulator. Our human rights powers in Scotland extend to reserved matters.

We safeguard and enforce the laws that protect people’s rights to fairness, dignity and respect.  Britain has a strong reputation as a global leader in equality and human rights and we are committed to ensuring this continues into the future. We are ambitious to achieve maximum impact with the powers and levers available to us to bring about change in society and make a difference to individual’s lives.

Being on our P&WC will offer you a unique opportunity to provide strategic advice and support as well as challenge officers and provide assurance to the Board on all people, infrastructure and remuneration matters affecting the employee life cycle.

As the P&WC will be focused on the 'Building our Commission' change programme for the next 3 years, we hope to appoint someone with extensive experience of leading change and transformation, ideally in a public sector environment. Experience of people centred change, ICT or estates change would also be advantageous.

The People and Workspace Committee’s Terms of Reference are available to view on the EHRC’s website. The Committee is a non-executive, advisory committee and has no executive powers.

You will need to demonstrate:

Substantial Human Resources experience.

  • Excellent communication skills and influencing effectively at senior level.

  • Experience in driving organisational change (people and communications)

  • A good understanding of equality and human rights.

  • An ability to establish partnerships, working collaboratively and challenging constructively.
