Head of Digital

ROLE SUMMARY

This purpose of this role is to lead the digital transformation at UKCF and for our members. The Head of Digital will transform our current systems to meet the needs of our internal and external stakeholders who include our workforce, donors and the organisations we support.

The Head of Digital will be required to strategically balance technological capability, budget and change management in order to ensure the continual transformational demand is met. Working in close collaboration with SMT colleagues and UKCF members and against agreed digital and business strategies, the Head of Digital will ensure digital platforms and the UKCF team are capable, fit for purpose and person centred to meet the day to day needs of UKCF and its members and long-term vision and ambitions.   

This role will be the technology expert, driving innovation in technology and creating partnerships with other organisations to ensure UKCF continues to digitally mature and evolve its digital capability - people, process, systems and data - through person-centred technology and agile ways of working. 

Typically for a small organisation, there is a mixture of strategic and hands-on work involved in this role. Excellent communication skills are key as projects are developed with the internal team at UKCF and with our 46 members for the good of the whole network.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Define a clear and engaging strategy, and supporting plan, to deliver improvements and innovations to the existing operations of UKCF, through the consistent and efficient use of digital tools, our CRM and a Communications Hub for our members.

  • Support the 2021 Salesforce review and lead the continuous improvement of the UKCF CRM offer to members

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of digital projects, including change management required to improve, implement and embed digital systems, IT infrastructures and processes.

  • Deliver a comprehensive and reliable technology digital service to UKCF and its members, including operational management, technical architecture, infrastructure development and business systems, supported by appropriate budgetary, investment and risk management.

  • Provide sound technical digital leadership across the organisation. Lead, and champion, the adoption of innovative and new technologies that enable members to lead in the delivery of their work and meet the needs of their donors and grantees.

  • Provide timely and relevant digital strategic support and guidance to our members.

  • Research solutions and make recommendations for the improvement of systems and infrastructure.

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to assess the needs of UKCF and the members, and to identify and deliver fit for purpose solutions. Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology and identify potential innovations.

  • Manage the relationships with digital partners and providers. Positively influencing the service standards provided by third parties in relation to technology solutions.

  • Identify digital skills gaps in the UKCF team and help to deliver the required training and personal development plans.

  • Maintain a level of information security appropriate to the legal and regulatory requirements of the purposes of our business, including appropriate protection against cyber and other digitally related threats.  

  • Manage relevant policies and compliance including GDPR.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of managing digital transformation across an organisation.

  • Experience of providing strategic advice to senior management on digital transformation.

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise conflicting tasks.

  • Knowledge of IT & information governance including GDPR.

  • Significant experience working with 3rd party suppliers.

  • Strong experience in working with CRM systems, ideally including Salesforce.

  • Experience of working for a grant-giving charity is not essential but would be an asset to the role.
