Job Description

Overview

It’s all about impact. As an organisation we want to create impact, and to do that we need to have smart systems that generate great forward-looking business intelligence in real time. We need to collate and interpret many different data sets to inform the extraordinarily wide variety of activities that we undertake – from reducing childhood obesity, through being a great hospital charity raising lots of money and spending it well, to managing an £800m pool of endowment assets with an active property development team. Our activities are interlinked, and we are approaching our many challenges in new and unique ways. Making good decisions to increase the amount of impact we make involves so much more than just keeping track of the financials.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an accountant with a passion for systems to join a dynamic and highly motivated team that is working with the latest software – principally Salesforce and Tableau. You’ll be fully involved in all aspects of designing, developing and implementing our increasingly sophisticated operational/financial processing and reporting systems. For us, your accounting knowledge and demonstrable enthusiasm for working with systems and data is far more important than specific experience of the software packages. As a result, this role offers an amazing chance for someone with the right aptitude to develop incredibly valuable skills and experience. Our systems have all been developed in house (using a mix of standard Salesforce / Tableau functionality and off-the-shelf third-party apps), so you’ll be fully supported – and challenged – by the team.

Although you’ll work very closely with the Head of Finance and Operations, you’ll also interface with users at all levels across the organisation as you design and build the system tools and business intelligence solutions that they need. We’ll expect you to use all your imagination, innovation and flair, and in return we’ll offer you plenty of freedom to make your own choices and try things out.

Of course, you’ll also be looking after the day-to-day administration of the systems, supporting users, providing training and producing documentation.

This is a newly created role and you’ll be joining at an exciting time for the team. We are intrinsically enterprising, collaborative and delivery-minded, and have massive ambition to deliver the most sophisticated systems and business intelligence of any organisation in our sector. If you’re the right person, you could play a key part in achieving this whilst at the same time mastering some of the most significant business software around.
