Role outline and purpose
The Impact and Evaluation Officer is responsible for supporting and leading on the design and delivery of evaluations of Trussell Trust projects and programmes. They will also provide evaluation advice, guidance and resources to staff and the food bank network and ensure evaluation findings are shared to a range of audiences.
Role responsibilities
· Providing advice and information to project stakeholders. Understanding the needs of project teams, advising on suitable evaluation approaches and methods, and helping to develop impact reporting.
· Supporting and leading on the delivery of evaluations. Conducting evaluation activities such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, analysis of reporting/monitoring data. Producing outputs such as reports, presentations and fact sheets.
· Supporting the project management of externally commissioned evaluations. This will include helping with the procurement process and assisting the Learning and Evaluation Manager with day-to-day project management activities.
· Ensuring evaluations relate to the organisational Theory of Change. Mapping projects to organisational strategic outcomes and ensuring evaluation data contributes to our understanding of the impact we are having as an organisation.
· Communicating learnings to relevant audiences. Proactively sharing evaluation findings with groups who would benefit from them, ensuring the type of communication is suitable and engaging.
· Helping to collate data to report on the Trussell Trust’s impact. Helping teams to identify data relevant to the strategy impact framework and sharing it with colleagues in the Impact and Evidence department, for inclusion in our impact reporting.
Person Specification
Technical skills and minimum knowledge:
Sound knowledge of the principles of evaluation and impact measurement gained through academic and/or employment experience
Experience of one or more research or evaluation methods relevant to the social/charity sector
Ability to analyse different types of quantitative and qualitative data
Ability to summarise complex information and present it to different audiences in relevant, engaging and accessible ways
Good written and oral communication skills
Desirable:
Knowledge of participatory evaluation approaches
