Role Summary

The Diana Award are looking for a dynamic Project Manager with experience in innovation and an interest in designing a digital platform to inspire young activists to maximise their potential as social changemakers.

This new project is designed to build on The Diana Award’s expertise working with youth social activists to create an online Centre for Social Action. This online space will provide skills-building and networking opportunities for young people at all stages of their social action journey. The Centre for Social Action is designed to be a global world-leading hub that brings together social changemakers aged 9 - 25 years old. Our goal is to make the Centre for Social Action the go-to resource globally that opens doors for young changemakers to maximise their impact, build powerful networks and an interactive, engaging place where changemakers can meet like-minded individuals who they can share experiences with. 

Job Description

The Diana Award was founded on the belief that young people have the power to change the world. Our mission is to empower young people to lead that change through a range of initiatives which unlock their potential, inspire action and create opportunities, ensuring that no young person is left out or left behind.   

After a period of consultancy with Spring Impact, The Diana Award have been working on a vision to use our expertise to provide an online platform for social activists. We recently received funding from the Avast Foundation to create a Centre for Social Action and we are now looking to hire a Project Manager to bring this project from bold idea to tangible output.  

The Project Manager (Centre for Social Action) will be responsible for: 

DESIGN, TEST & BUILD

  • Use lean innovation approaches to determine a minimum viable product and develop a product specification and project manage the technical build of the Centre for Social Action. 

  • Work with external contractors, who will work on more extensive technical requirements 

  • Design and conduct experiments with relevant stakeholders to observe behaviors 

  • Collect, store and monitor data and insights from experiments and consultation with internal and external stakeholders 

  • Develop scalable solutions based on the insights and expertise collecting throughout the project  

  • Report on findings to internal and external stakeholders, and regularly presenting data and learnings to the project team and leadership 

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Coordinate and facilitate project planning and review meetings with necessary stakeholders, including project coordination meetings, ideation workshops, progress review meetings, among others 

  • Work closely with young people to gain a clear understanding of youth social action and to co-design and co-create content 

  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including the funder, delivery partners and content creators, and testers 

  • In the later stages of the project, develop a business plan to ensure the financial viability of the Centre for Social Action 

  • Work in partnership with the Impact and Influence team to develop monitoring and evaluation process for the Centre for Social Action in line with lean innovation techniques  

  • Work closely with the Operations Team to ensure compliance with general data protection regulation, safeguarding and synergies with existing digital tools and platforms 

Collaborate with Programme Managers and Head of Programmes to share best practice and work on cross-programmatic projects to support The Diana Award’s wider strategic goals 

OTHER TASKS

  • Act a member of The Diana Award’s Programme Management Team, responsible for coordinating programme delivery across the organisation   

  • Support the wider team to establish new funding streams and partnership opportunities, including creating key reports on outcomes for funders and potential funders 

  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required 

  • Attend relevant workshops or join professional groups as necessary to maintain professional knowledge and licensure. 

  • Facilitates and attends relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals across programme teams and to funders 

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable knowledge and practical experience of lean experimentation and human-centred design methodologies 

  • Experience in either entrepreneurship, non-profit or related field 

  • Proven ability to design and conduct experiments with new and dynamic concepts, demonstrating a high degree of adaptability 

  • Excellent IT skills and confident in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially proficient in using Microsoft Excel to design, build, and analyse data trackers 

  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to design, build, and analyse data trackers 

  • Experience developing a product specification and project managing a technical build 

  • Experience of budget and financial management (including setting, monitoring and reporting)   

  • Experience of building and managing external relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including programme partners, funders and policy makers   

  • Experience developing business plans to ensure financial viability of products (desirable) 

  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding, ideally in an international context 

  • Commitment to meaningful youth participation and engagement   

  • Demonstrable interest in youth social action 

  • Excellent decision-making, writing and communication skills  

  • Commitment to learning and self-development 

  • Experience with Open Source or other similar platforms is desirable but not essential 

This role will be contractually based from our London office, and occasional travel will be required. Hybrid and flexible working options can be explored and the successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
