Job Description
The Purchasing Coordinator aids the Purchasing Manager with the day-to-day operation of the purchasing department. The role is focused on supporting continuous improvement in purchasing processes, assisting with bulk purchase agreements for equipment, gear, supplies, managing NOLS online retail fulfillment, and shipping and receiving activities. In addition, this role will assist in purchasing for all NOLS locations at our branches worldwide.

What does the Purchasing Coordinator do?
The role reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and means you will be involved in the following activities:

Place orders with vendors and expedite existing orders.
Answer phone calls from vendors and branches, helping with inquiries as needed.
Process new requisitions and received orders.
Interact with finance department to reconcile order questions/problems.
Contact vendors when orders are received with errors or damage.
Research new products and suppliers and make recommendations to purchasing manager and/or requisitioner based on quality, price, and availability.
Collaborate in maintenance of purchasing database.
Maintain purchase order and catalog files.
Completes monthly reporting and assists in annual inventory count and reporting.

Assist in overseeing and provide backup support for the fulfillment functions (mailroom and online store)

Experience in customer service, both internally and externally, with excellent phone etiquette.
Possesses the ability to work both as part of a team and independently, organize multiple duties, and prioritize workload in a rapidly changing and distracting work environment.
Required skills include retail/purchasing experience, strong planning and logistics management, computer literacy, and excellent verbal and written communication.
Attention to detail, accuracy, confidentiality required.
NOLS work experience and supervising skills helpful but not required.
Demonstrates the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently.
