 Summary of role:

Our agrifood team support global food and beverage clients set and implement commercially focused sustainability strategies across their value chains. Our team of agrifood experts tackle complex challenges ranging from carbon emissions, water resilience, soil health, deforestation, biodiversity, human rights and sustainable finance; often working with our Digital team to develop decision support tools that support businesses evidence impact and measure progress towards their sustainability goals.

 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop new business, support team operations and deliver projects across our food and beverage client base on themes such as regenerative agriculture, food loss and waste, scope 3 emissions and human rights. Using their strengths in business development, account management and client focussed project management and a demonstrable track record of working in the agrifood sector, they will ensure clients receive high quality outcomes on time and within budget, whilst also having the autonomy to develop new client relationships, activities and revenue streams.

 Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will be someone who wants to continue to develop their career in the agrifood sector, using their knowledge to drive sustainable performance whilst being comfortable working in multi-stakeholder environments to manage multiple projects and clients. They will have a relevant background in the agrifood industry and have a firm understanding of the critical sustainability challenges they face. Strong business development, client facing and project management experience is essential, whilst previous knowledge gained in the consulting sector preferable. Given the nature of the work and team, the candidate will also have line management responsibilities.

 Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in sustainability roles within the agrifood sector (e.g. agribusiness, manufacturing, retail)

  • Strong understanding of retail food supply chains and related sustainability challenges

  • Excellent business development and operational skills and ability to lead project teams (including: client engagement, team work, delivery and budget management)

  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and balancing multiple priorities

  • Experience of line management and development of more junior colleagues

  • Ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-moving environment

  • Ability to convey technical information in an engaging and useful way to non-technical audiences

  • High quality and professional report writing and presentation development (MS Word, MS PowerPoint)

  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of MS Excel

    Desirable skills:

  • An international perspective on global food production and consumption

  • Additional technical knowledge/experience across critical sustainability related agrifood challenges (e.g. carbon, water, biodiversity, animal welfare, commodities, human rights)

  • Previous responsible sourcing or sustainability related consultancy experience

  • Environmental/sustainability/food related degree

  • Experience of Agile software development
