Job Description

To provide support to the Senior Finance Business Partner (Impact & Investments) in producing monthly management accounts with insightful variance analysis. Preparing detailed activity-based budgets with budget holders, supporting them manage restricted partner funds and donor reporting.

Key Accountabilities / Objectives

  • Carry out allocated month end tasks accurately and efficiently to include; reconciliation of monthly expenditure accruals, cost allocation journals for staff and non-staff costs in line with restricted budgets

  • Work with budget holders to produce detailed activity budgets in line with donor restrictions and reforecast

  • Prepare accurate and timely donor reports using information from the grants management system and accounting system

  • Reconcile donor reports to the grant management system, accounting system and highlight any differences with the Finance Control team and the Partnership Manager

  • Work with the Finance Control team and Partnership Mangers to resolve any amendments and changes to fund allocations

  • Support in reporting fund balances highlighting available funds to invest/commit to budget holders

  • Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts (leading on the Travel & Engagement cost centre), highlighting variances against budget/forecast and steps being taken to address variances

  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget and reforecasts. Deliver financial training to non-finance staff as required.

  • Adhoc analysis as required.

  • Flexible / part time working hours will be considered for this role

Essential Skills and Compentencies

  • Part qualified studying an accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Experience of working with restricted funds and donor reporting

  • Experience of budgeting and forecasting and working with non-finance staff

  • Experience of Excel and computerised financial reporting (essential)

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Trustworthy & respectful of confidentiality – to deal with sensitive information and handle cash.

  • Good time management – to prioritise work and meet month end deadlines.

  • IT literacy – to be able to credit and edit documents and spreadsheets, use e-mail and outlook calendar effectively.

  • Good communication and relationship management skills – for dealing with suppliers and staff members.

  • A fun, positive and engaged professional that demonstrates high proactivity.
