At the same time, there remain entrenched social challenges in the UK and around the world. The Impact Investing Institute is an independent, non-profit organisation which aims to make capital work better for people.

We have a wide, global network across financial services, social enterprises, businesses, government and regulators. In partnership with our dedicated volunteers, we work to get the message out and bring people together through information sharing, events, guidance, research, and specific partnerships and projects - all dedicated to addressing the barriers that prevent more money from having a positive impact on people and planet.

The role

The Relationships Coordinator will work directly with the CEO, and Institute team, to coordinate a sustainable development strategy for the Institute. The primary aim will be to support various functions, such as process management, record-keeping and CRM, and relationship management to help increase revenue from a diverse portfolio of corporates, family offices and grant-making foundations across the UK and globally, as well as supporting the team and the partnerships consultant to develop key strategic partnerships with other aligned organisations.

The Relationships Coordinator will also support the Institute’s Board and Advisory Council to develop strong relationships to support our work. You will need to be self-starting and confident in supporting senior people. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment as part of a collaborative and committed team.  They will have a positive, "can-do" attitude, practise innovative thinking, and will be flexible and team-oriented. This is a rewarding role in an exciting and flexible team, with visability and access to the CEO, and opportunities to expand personal networks at board level.

Key Responsibilities: 

The Relationships Coordinator will work to support the Institute’s team via the following responsibilities:

  • Provide communication and coordination support to the CEO, Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and Partnerships and Fundraising Consultant to implement the Institute’s partnerships strategy, building relationships with corporate supporters and securing unrestricted grant funding;

  • Work with the CEO and Fundraising Consultant to coordinate the fundraising and development strategy and action it. This includes preparing reports, correspondence, presentation materials; and written applications and approaches to potential funders.

  • Support the CEO and Institute’s team to develop strong relationships with potential supporters, coordinating the overall approach to:

    • Recruiting new supporters to the Institute to meet fundraising targets;

    • Engaging with and retaining existing founding supporters of the Institute;

    • Developing and deepening relationships with the supporters; and

  • Working with the CEO, Policy Director, and Operations Manager to develop the Institute's supporters' offer to include support for secondments, research and/or specific projects as well as core costs.

  • Coordinate with the CEO, Board of Directors and Advisory Council by planning, scheduling, and tracking engagement and communications as appropriate;

  • Coordinate with the Operations Manager to manage the partnerships and fundraising budgets with responsibility for meeting agreed timeliness and targets;

  • Working with the Events Manager and Communications and Engagement Manager to manage supporters’ engagement:

    • Coordinate communications with supporters of the Institute;

    • Build a programme of events for current supporters and future prospects;

    • Maintain and verify all records in the Institute’s CRM pertaining to relationship-building and fundraising;

    • Regularly report on partner engagement with communications and events.

    • Map and coordinate contacts and opportunities, deepening and supporting engagement.

  • Coordinate and provide administrative service to the Institute’s Chairs and Fundraising Committee by:

    • Maintaining an up-to-date record of all outreach activities to potential supporters;

    • Coordinating the monthly Fundraising Committee meetings;

    • Sending pre- and post- meeting updates to the committee;

    • Being the internal point of contact for the partnerships consultant, Chairs and the Fundraising Committee;

  • Ensure that the Institute complies with laws, regulations and best practice relating to fundraising including, but not limited to those specified by the Fundraising Regulator in its Code of Conduct and GDPR.

Person Profile:

Essential Experience

  • Proven ability and track record in building strong relationships with key stakeholders;

  • Previous experience working in a relationship-building or fundraising role;

  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities;

  • Outstanding networking skills, including ability to represent an organisation’s vision, values, strategy and activity with experienced philanthropists;

  • Experience of using CRM systems and knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM system

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of working with Board Members and staff to support income and resource generation, including fundraising;

  • Experience of working in a start-up environment and in a small team;

  • Knowledge of the financial services and / or the social sector.

  • Excellent IT skills, in particular competent in the use of Microsoft Office 365 suite and MS Outlook.
