Location: London, EC4A (currently remote working;)

Reporting to: Senior Communications Director, (job-share)

Salary: £33,750 - £38,750 (depending on experience)

Contract type: Permanent

Working hours: Full time (open to flexible working or job-share options)

Purpose of the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic communications expert to join our Communications Team, part of the Engagement Group. Your role will include devising engaging campaigns, planning and coordinating the production of content for external communications, leading on the creation and production of our corporate publications and working with external partners on joint publications. Collaborating with colleagues across our organisation, you will help shape effective communications plans, using traditional and digital channels.

 

This is a dynamic role that will suit someone who has excellent writing skills and creative flair, excels at running projects, and who can analyse and measure success to determine future activity.

 

You should be passionate about the role that social impact investment can play in helping improve lives across the UK, excited about raising our profile across our target audiences and improving public understanding of what we do and why we do it.

 

We are a collaborative, agile team so we need someone with a can-do attitude, willing to roll their sleeves up and unafraid to ask for help when needed. We do our best to support each other, so you may be needed to flex across different disciplines to help us deliver on business needs and create truly integrated campaigns.

 

This is an exciting time to join the Communications Team as we embark on a new business strategy to raise awareness of social impact investing and build an investment ecosystem that supports enterprises to improve people’s lives across the UK.

 

Key responsibilities

·         Helping to devise campaigns based on understanding audiences and spotting opportunities across both digital and offline channels, ensuring an integrated approach

·         Taking the lead on producing corporate publications including annual review, corporate brochure, corporate video including copywriting and editing to create compelling content

·         Ownership of impact story library, ensuring that we have a regular flow of new stories representing the diversity of our investments and permissions for use of images etc are recorded centrally and kept updated

·         Offline content creation to include producing PowerPoint presentations and guardianship of the corporate deck

·         Supporting the communications team in content planning, as well as collecting information from the organisation needed to develop those plans

·         Overseeing the content calendar for the Big Society Capital website and social media channels, with specific focus on Twitter and LinkedIn.

·         Measurement and reporting of marketing and communications activities, using insight to inform and optimise future content  

·         Running kick off and wash up meetings to ensure we plan effectively and learn from results

·         Developing content that is inclusive, diverse and follows Big Society Capital brand guidelines and tone of voice

·         Compliance - reviewing financial promotions, ensuring compliance with financial promotion regulations, record keeping and quality control measures for all content produced. Ensuring activities operate in line with GDPR and data privacy requirements

 

Essential experience

•         Strong and relevant external communications and publications experience

•         Proven track record of running successful communications campaigns

•         Project management

•         First-hand understanding of offline and digital communications channels

•         Strong monitoring and evaluation skills

•         Good knowledge of and comfort with digital communications, social media, and emerging digital platforms

 

Desirable experience

•         Experience of working in social investment/impact investment or broader financial services

Salary and terms of employment

·         This is a permanent position. All applicants must have an existing Right to Work in the UK

·         Location: Chancery Lane (most Big Society Capital staff are currently working from home)

·         Salary – £33,750 - £38,750 (depending on experience)
