Job Description

The Assistant Producer will support the Senior Producer in researching and casting contributors to take part in the Red Nose and Spoon Race challenge on the One Show as part of Red Nose Day 2022. They will also support the wider factual content team in researching and casting stories for appeal films and other story needs across the Red Nose Day campaign.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work on highly sensitive and targeted casting of contributors for the Red Nose and Spoon Challenge and other storytelling needs across the Red Nose Day campaign.

  • Conduct research into the projects and organisations currently receiving funding from Comic Relief to understand the work they are doing and assess their storytelling potential.

  • Work across setting up shoots with the producer & PM – including locations, contributors etc

  • Develop relationships with projects funded by Comic Relief and contributors through phone calls, zoom calls, project visits and contributor visits and to be able to fully appreciate any safeguarding or compliance issues that might need to be taken into consideration during casting.

  • Alongside, the Senior Producer, managing relationships with contributors up to, during and after the challenge takes place.

Person specification

Essential criteria

  • Some AP level experience across TV and online content production, specifically in specialist factual and/or documentary programming

  • Evidence of genuine passion and action to expand representation, both in front and behind the camera

  • Ability to multi task and work across more than one project simultaneously

  • Strong understanding and experience of safeguarding – e.g. working with children and vulnerable adults

  • Strong attention to detail – to produce work which is accurate and brand relevant

  • Ability to work proactively and effectively as part of a busy production team

  • Strong inter-personal skills and ability to spend lots of time chatting to people on the phone or in person.

Desirable criteria

  • Basic video editing skills (ideally in Premiere)

  • Ability to write good copy
