Job Description
This role operates from within the HarperCollins 360 business unit, a global publishing and distribution initiative within HarperCollins. Harper360 is responsible for the distribution, marketing, publicity, and sales of HarperCollins US, Canada, Australia/New Zealand and India Adult and Children’s titles into the UK marketplace.
The position will be selling a wide portfolio of world renowned Harper360 authors and brands across a spectrum of key adult and children’s genres. They will manage the publication programme and the sales budget, adding value and securing optimum promotional space across varied sales environments. Shadow the Affiliate publisher with global publishing decisions.
Key Tasks
First point of contact for selected accounts, including Amazon, on ordering, stocking and distribution of titles.
Focus on account growth, publishing and management of ANZ, Canadian and Indian lists
Manage and negotiate the best possible sales terms
Create and organise sales presentations and materials
Prep our presence at trade events like roadshows and #YALC
Manage eBook and digital audio lists run meetings, review pricing and backlist opportunities for USA and ANZ lists.
Administer custom sales activities with book box subscription companies and other specialty accounts
Provide weekly system generated reports for Amazon & Waterstones, presenting trade and digital sales data in a clear and informative manner.
Develop strong relationships with the US Harper360 team, UK sales teams, warehouse, customer services, admin and operations teams.
Implement the Harper360 programme for USA, ANZ and Indian titles in consultation with the Affiliate Publisher
Ensure metadata and Amazon assets are up to date ahead of publication
Key skills and experience
Experience of non-traditional and/or trade account management
Knowledge of or experience within the publishing industry
Experience of producing sales presentations including spreadsheets and graphs
Experience of working in a busy environment and balancing priorities
eBook and digital audio knowledge or experience
Selling and negotiating skills with the ability to influence others
Must be an excellent communicator with strong customer service ethic
