Job Description

About Us

Proton.ai is revolutionizing wholesale distribution. Distributors sell nearly every physical good you come across. Key to the economy, they make up over 28% of GDP. But there’s a problem. Selling as a distributor is complicated. Distributors carry hundreds of thousands of complicated SKUs, making it impossible for distributors to know what their customers need. Proton cuts through this complexity with AI. We provide a solution that modernizes distributors' sales efforts. And in doing so, we help distributors better serve their customers.

Our company is in hyper growth mode. We’ve grown >6X YoY. Needless to say, it’s an exciting time to join the Proton.ai team.

The Role:

At Proton.ai, we've got a product that adds value and a big vision for becoming the core sales system for distributors. We are looking for our first Director of Product who can execute our vision and scale our Product team. Working closely with our founder, Benj, you'll set the overall product roadmap and vision, ensuring we build the most valuable product possible for our customers.

As is often the case for startups, this is a player-coach role, offering both the opportunity to manage other product managers and the opportunity to directly work on features yourself. If you thrive wearing many hats, consider yourself scrappy, and enjoy the full range of big-picture process and strategy to detailed execution, we'd love to talk to you

What you'll do:

  • Closely collaborate with our Founder/ CEO, Benj, to build the roadmap, optimize our product development process, and install processes and best practices.

  • Plan the roadmap--how do we plan work over time, how do we divide work by pods, etc.

  • Ensure sure the pods are coordinated and working together

  • Oversee our product organization and manage two other product managers, Hannah and Dmitriy, helping them translate the roadmap into customer value

  • Collaborate with engineers to build "stuff", and sales and customer to collect and synthesize customer/prospect feedback.

  • Coach our wonderful PMs so they can grown in their career and become exceptional at their jobs.

  • Create efficient internal processes and develop clear communication channels so that everyone knows what’s happening in product, and pod efficiency is maximized

You'll be great fit for this role if you have:

  • A strong grasp of product management best practices (how to organize a roadmap, how to plan specific features, how to coordinate across teams, etc), and ability to put those best practices into action

  • Exceptional management and mentorship skills, and a passion for coaching people

  • Empathy for our customers, and ability to understand and prioritize their needs via user feedback, user research, experimentation, and data

  • The ability to rapidly produce product concepts and prototypes (both low and high fidelity)

  • Experience work cross-functionally, especially with software engineers, to turn feature ideas into reality

  • Solid business and strategic intuition combined with problem-solving, listening and interpersonal skills

  • Metrics driven and adept at figuring out the right KPIS in order to track product and feature performance and team effectiveness.

Experience that may be helpful:

  • Experience developing and deploying products for enterprise customers.

  • Experience in an early stage startup environment--preferably in a role focused on product or software engineering.

Benefits

This is a full-time remote position: Competitive salary $180k, plus equity, health benefits (we pay 99%), 401k and a generous vacation policy.
