Role: Associate Director - Waste Management - Service Line Team Lead

Location: Remote role, based across the U.S./Canada.

Solution Area: Sustainable Products, Packaging and Circularity (SPPC), Anthesis North America.

Contract:  Permanent

Remuneration Range:  Associate Director $120,000 - $145,000 // Director $145,000 - $165,000

Our waste management specialists advise investors and developers to make informed waste infrastructure investment decisions; advise operators and asset managers to optimise the value of their assets and manage risks. We advise stakeholders throughout the supply chain to minimise waste and to recover value from unavoidable waste via markets for secondary materials. Key Responsibilities

 

To meet the high demand for our waste management expertise from North America and global clients, we are looking to recruit a Service Line Team Leader for our Waste Management Service Line at the Associate Director level. The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record of delivering client reports covering a broad range of relevant issues and providing client focussed project management, as well as having a clear understanding of the waste management sector.

 

Service Line Team Lead Role Objectives:

  • Develop and drive the Service Line strategy, go to market and business plan, in close collaboration with the Solution Leader and the Solution Operations Leader

  • Lead business development activities related to the waste service offerings, including sales calls, actively engaging with new and existing clients to establish and/or grow the relationships in accordance with our client management approach, and developing and/or stewarding proposals and marketing materials

•         Manage the Service Line’s financial and operational activities, working closely with the Solution Operations Leader and internal support resources as may be appropriate

•         Define leading offerings to take to the market, including developing supporting materials, e.g. sales materials, proposal, budget, and deliverable templates, etc. as well as monitoring market developments to evolve the current offerings, tools and approaches to meet and exceed client needs

•         Contribute to thought leadership on your offering internally and externally

•         Responsible for all aspects of quality assurance for the Service Line’s offerings

•         Recruit, develop/ mentor, retain and manage talent, to achieve performance excellence, within the Service Line, and under the guidance of the Solution Operations Leader

•         Establish close ties and work collaboratively with other Service Line Leaders, in the NA region, and their equivalents, in other regions, and share best practices as well as lessons learned

 

In support of the Service Line Team Lead Objectives, your responsibilities will include:

•         Provide clear leadership and direction to your Service Line team members on all aspects of our work related to this role, including (but not limited to) business development, technical subject matter expertise, project delivery, quality assurance and client management

  • Managing Service Line resources with particular attention to recruitment and retention to maximize opportunity, project delivery and profitability

  • Performing people management responsibilities for the Service Line

  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or the company

  • Managing key client relationships and projects, in consultation with the SPPC Solution Leader and the Solution Operations Leader

•         Creating and finalising client facing commercial, technical and market reports

 

Our waste management team provides commercially focused advice. You will have the opportunity to lead projects including commercial and market due diligence to support waste technology and infrastructure investment decisions; advising companies seeking to reduce waste generation and improve waste utilization throughout the value chain, assessing processes for waste recycling and recovery and their ability to manufacture secondar raw materials to the required quality to access markets; and providing strategic support to waste management companies.

 

Key Requirements

 

Our ideal candidate will be someone who wants to flourish in a technical analytics environment at the leading edge of sustainability. You will have a relevant background in waste industry or regulation, giving you a keen grasp of the waste management sector, and preferably proven consulting experience. You will be expected to keep abreast of changing circular economy market dynamics, waste sector trends and technology developments, and implement strategic and tactical initiatives in response to emerging opportunities. An understanding and experience of effective project management is essential.

 

Minimum qualifications

 

  • Demonstrable leadership ability

•         Working knowledge of the North American waste market and circularity;

•         An understanding of the North American waste & resource sector regulatory & policy environment;

•         Able to drive operational effectiveness, leading to operational excellence

•         Adept at managing internal and external relationships

•         Able to ensure excellence in delivery, through people

•         10+ years’ experience in waste and resource management;

•         Environment/sustainability degree or engineering, science, economics degree and practical experience;

•         Strong analytical skills and ability to provide robust evidence to underpin business decisions;

•         Excellent client manager and project management and ability to lead project teams;

 

Desirable skills

•         An international perspective on global waste markets and infrastructure;

•         Experience in delivering waste and secondary commodity market assessments, commercial due diligence, studies and waste management infrastructure evaluation for project developers, investors & lenders, intermediaries or procuring authorities or brands/manufacturing sector;

•         Experience assisting companies in achieving zero waste goals or similar.
