Job Description

About us

At Proton we're bringing cutting-edge technology to the world of business-to-business distribution. It's a large market that offers an enormous opportunity for growth. The industry we serve accounts for trillions of dollars of revenue a year. It's a huge chance to have an impact by shaking up an industry that's still waking up to the promise of technology. We have a chance to really transform the way a huge number of people work for the better, and bridge the gap between amazing software tools and human expertise.

By becoming the source of truth for our customers' data, we're helping them make better decisions and be more effective. We’re looking for a user experience designer for our user products team to help make that vision a reality.

The Role

We are looking for a User Experience Designer. As an early member of the company, you’ll have a key role in shaping the structure of our design team, establishing design best practices, and working with product managers and designers to define our product experience for our users. We're working to build a sustainable environment where excellence sits alongside a recognition that we operate in a system and a need to nurture learning at all levels.

Our objectives are ambitious, so be prepared to jump into the deep end of the pool. We're open to considering all experience levels for this role and do not consider a lengthy resume to be an indication of a great candidate

What you'll do:

  • Be the primary designer on a product team

  • Conduct user research, prototype, and iterate to create highly effective user-focused experiences and interfaces

  • Create and maintain design documentation such as user flows, wireframes, and information architecture (we use primarily Figma, and a host of other UX-specific applications)

  • Work closely with software engineers to turn feature ideas into reality cross-platform (we use React Native + Vue for our mobile and web applications, respectively)

  • Actively participate in all stages of our design process, including contributing to story creation, weekly standups, project kickoffs, etc.

You'll be great fit for this role if you have:

  • Strong background in visual/interaction design, UX/UI principles

  • Ability to design and build high fidelity prototypes for testing

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Some experience working with other designers or inside a larger design organization preferred, but not required

  • Deep empathy for our users

  • Interest in B2B software design

  • Willingness to be flexible and work broadly across the design spectrum

  • Desire to work in a culture that values the balance between swift testing and iteration, and polished, elegant solutions

  • Eagerness to provide and receive honest feedback in a transparent and supportive work environment

Benefits

This is a full-time remote position: Salary: $75k, plus equity, health benefits (we pay 99%), 401k and a generous vacation policy.

Candidates enjoy our application process! They tell us that the questions we ask make sense, plus they get to showcase their abilities. And we provide feedback!
