You will be helping to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day people operations, with particular responsibility for People Operations administration and recruitment. You’ll get first hand exposure to what is involved in running a scaling business from the People perspective, and play a pivotal role in contributing to the best possible employee experience as we continue to grow.

There is scope for growth in this role and we will provide you with training to help you excel.  You will also have the opportunity to make a transformational impact on the People side of a scaling business.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide administrative support ranging across the full spectrum of People Ops from onboarding and offboarding colleagues, drafting internal communications regarding benefits & policies and help facilitate the bi-yearly review process.

  • Lead the operational responsibilities of the recruitment process including advertising, managing candidate applications, and scheduling interviews.

  • Manage our HR system, Charlie HR, to maintain employee records on our HRIS system and perform regular audits.

  • Take initiative to improve systems and processes; thinking outside the box to help the People ops run as effectively as possible as we scale.

  • Team player who can also work independently.

  • An interest in public sector innovation / GovTech.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in an HR/People role would be useful, but is not a prerequisite for this role . We are interested in individuals with potential and the drive to succeed, though an interest in People and the intersection of People and start-ups is a must.

What you don’t need

  • A degree, or a traditional educational background.

This role is based in the United Kingdom, and as such starting employment will be conditional on the successful candidate’s Right to Work in the UK. For those otherwise eligible to obtain the Right to Work in the UK, we offer the facility to borrow up to £2,000 towards visa-related expenses.

We built PUBLIC amidst Europe’s startup ecosystem, helped shape “GovTech” into a critical sector and firmly believe new companies are critical to government transformation, from welfare policy, through online harms to climate change.

Our London home is PUBLIC Hall, a buzzing co-working space in the centre of Westminster; in Berlin we co-founded the government’s GovTech Campus. We continue to foster these communities, support innovators and provide the public sector with easy access to a pipeline of innovative solutions.
