Job Description

The Data Analyst is responsible for collection, analysis and sharing of data relating to the work we fund across the Impact and Investment portfolio. This includes shaping data collection processes and systems, analysing data to surface insights, and providing data for key internal and external audiences. This role is also responsible for championing transparency and open data across Comic Relief and ensuring compliance with open data standards including IATI and 360Giving.

Key responsibilities

  • Collate and analyse data from the performance of the grants and investments we make and present findings that identify trends and insights. This includes collating grant monitoring statistics and managing data aggregation processes for use in organisational reporting and fundraising campaigns (eg Red Nose Day);

  • Maintaining data dashboards for periodic reporting to senior management and trustees;

  • Responding to ad hoc requests for data from internal and external stakeholders;

  • Working with colleagues from across the organisation to improve processes and systems for collecting, analysing and storing data;

  • Manage Comic Relief’s reporting to open data initiatives (such as 360 Giving and IATI) and championing open data across the sector, representing Comic Relief in relevant sector forums;

  • Champion learning and openness across the organisation, proactively and creatively providing relevant data and insights using appropriate reporting and visualisation tools.

Essential Education and Competencies

  • Experience working with data, analytics and reporting

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make connections between data & information, strategy, systems and ways of working;

  • Ability to communicate data and insight in a variety of creative ways.

  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of monitoring, evaluation and learning;

  • Proactive, curious, flexible and collaborative in achieving goals.
