What you’ll do

What is procurement, firstly? Simply put, procurement is the process of buying goods or services on behalf of a business. That means supporting each step in the process from finding suppliers, engaging with them through the bidding processes, through to agreeing contracts.

In this role, you will gain exposure to procurement within the Financial Services sector. You will regularly be setting up new suppliers and loading their contracts into internal computer systems, raising purchase orders for the business, and staying on top of due diligence processes in line with the firm’s Procurement policies. In your day-to-day, that could involve fielding queries that come through to the business’s Procurement mailbox, as well as assisting with the use of internal e-Procurement tools like DocuSign. In short, this is a role best suited to someone who is excellent at staying on top of various sources of information, managing priorities to tight deadlines and, importantly, good at building collaborative relationships.

This role is an initial 12-Month FTC while you grow into the role, with a strong possibility for becoming permanent based on your success in the position.

The responsibilities you will have in this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that data on suppliers and spend is accurate across various systems (this is known as “reconciliation”);

  • Setting up suppliers and administering their contracts and spending information;

  • Maintaining the business’s Procurement mailbox, handling and triaging queries that come to the inbox; and

  • Supporting the team’s continuous improvement by inputting into policy and procedures.

You will likely be a recent graduate or school-leaver, ideally with some experience of working as part of a busy team, as well as some exposure to handling large amounts of data and a high-volume workload. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of what it takes to deliver great customer service in a commercial environment

In return, Federated Hermes will support you in fostering a career in Procurement, providing full on the job training and learning in order to develop your technical and soft skills, within a collaborative and friendly environment.
