Job Description

The Maintenance Technician will work in conjunction with the Site Services Technical Manager and wider Maintenance and Engineering team to ensure the availability of machinery and equipment throughout the site.

This role is for a night shift engineer but there will occasionally be a requirement to cover early and back shifts – early (6am to 2pm), back (2pm to 10pm) and night (10pm to 6am). Includes a rolling on-call schedule with associated overtime payments.

Key Accountabilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to maintain distribution centre machinery – sorters, conveyor systems, packing machines, balers, etc.

  • Support the Site Services team to deliver maintenance and work packages outside of core skill set

  • Maintain high standards of work and engineering good practice

  • Adhere to onsite Health and Safety processes, Safe Systems of Work and ensure thorough handovers, asset reporting and feedback

  • Review processes and make recommendations for continued improvement to distribution centre machinery and site plant and equipment

  • Electrical system and safe isolation compliance and 18th Edition compliance

  • Adhere to ISO standards

  • Maintain good working relationships with onsite contractors and third party support

  • Continued personal development

  • Good communication with team members, team leaders and management

  • Take responsibility of projects delegated from Technical Manager or delegate

  • Carry out PPMs on machinery within timescales

  • Can read and interpret technical electrical drawing

Requirements

  • 18th Edition wiring regulations

  • A mechanical engineering background

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a similar role

  • Familiarity with maintenance and engineering processes
