Job Description

We’re looking for a Commercial Legal Counsel

Habito is making it easier than ever to get a mortgage, with cutting-edge technology and a straightforward service that puts customers in control.

We’re looking for a Commercial Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team. As a high-growth financial technology company, we execute really exciting and often groundbreaking initiatives to fuel our growth, with commercial law advice being at the centre of almost everything we do.

You’ll take the lead on this high-impact commercial law work, working with teams across the business and building relationships to help drive the strategy and execution of these initiatives, constantly evolving our ways of working to ensure that we are protecting Habito’s best interests at every step.

We’re looking for a qualified solicitor with a great grounding in a corporate or commercial team at a law firm. If you have any experience working as a commercial legal counsel in a fast-paced, in-house legal team, that’s definitely a bonus.

More about what you’ll do:

  • Be an integral member of our super collaborative, four-person legal team, contributing to knowledge-sharing and helping to train other teams.

  • Take a leading role in our commercial legal work to support our quick growth and exciting product launches on the horizon.

  • Take a leading role in planning and executing Habito’s strategies for safeguarding and maximising our creation and use of intellectual property rights.

  • Help to ensure that the flows of personal data are properly accommodated in all of our commercial contracts and processes across the business.

  • Partner and collaborate with teams and stakeholders across Habito, including marketing and communications, finance, risk & compliance, people, and data, to help support Habito projects and initiatives.

The benefits

  • Hybrid working - (2 days office, 3 days home)

  • Share options - you own a piece of the company

  • Flexible holiday - 25 days holiday and more if you need it! (this is team dependent)

  • Enhanced maternity & paternity leave - for when you plan to start a family

  • Free Private healthcare - Bupa complete cover, for peace of mind

  • Life assurance - 4 x your annual salary

  • Career progression - we help you build your career

  • £450 annually - for your learning and development

  • Contributory pension scheme - We have an ethical pension fund, but you can decide where you put your money

  • Cycle to Work Scheme - to keep you on the move
