Swoop Aero was founded to transform how the world moves essential supplies by making access to the skies seamless. We were the first company globally to deliver a vaccine using a drone under a commercial contract. Since then, we've expanded globally, transforming the health supply chain with drone logistics operations in four countries. 

The work we’re doing is shifting the future of healthcare. We are having an immediate impact on the lives of people who live within the communities our operations are conducted in. Lots of companies say they have an impact but we really have one. We’ve got big plans to shift the paradigm in both developing and developed markets alike, both by deploying our fully managed logistics service into the health supply chain, and providing selected partners with our technology platform to further expand their impact.

To deliver on our vision, we’ve brought together a team of eternally optimistic and resourceful ‘doers’ to tackle these seemingly insurmountable problems and make all this become a reality. Last year we tripled our team size, and this year despite all the challenges we are doing it again.

About you: 

We are looking for an experienced Front End Developer who is a natural problem solver and loves to think innovatively. Your will thrive working in a non-hierarchical, fast passed and entrepreneurial environment, allowing you to take ownership of the of the development cycle, implementing’s new features as well as polishing existing ones.

About the role: 

We are looking for a Front-End Developer to join our passionate team of Software Engineers who are dedicated to building technology that creates genuine, positive, global impact. In this position you will work on our internal and customer facing web solutions to ensure our propriety software scales to meet our business needs.

As key member of the Technology team you will have the freedom to proactively seek out ways to use technology to increase the effectiveness, performance, usability of our product to support both our customers and internal staff operations. Working closely with our Chief Architect you will ensure software engineering best practices is maintained and create high quality, front end features on a 2-week sprint cycle. You will be responsible maintaining and enhancing our system documents and collaborating with other to ensue cohesive designing interfaces.

About our Stack:

The Swoop Aero technology stack consists of NodeJS backend API (using the AWS SAM approach) with a React frontend. For both we are migrating towards a purely TypeScript environment, and we are working on building out our code test coverage. Our code repository and build pipelines are managed through GitLab, we use Jira and Confluence to manage our documentation and sprint planning respectively.

 

 As this is a technical role we have some necessary experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in the following areas:

    • Frontend development (ideally with React)

    • Test driven development

    • Mapping/GIS libraries (OpenLayers, Turf.js)

    • Working with AWS hosted systems

    • Git repositories and build pipelines

    • Agile development

    • Basic UI/UX design skills

 

We understand that you may not have all of the points above covered, so a demonstrable desire to learn and grow your technical skill set will give us confidence that you can pick up the skills necessary for the role.
