Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Salary: up to £80k depending on experience
Start date: ASAP
Location: Remote/Bristol/London. At the moment we are only able to accept candidates based in the UK and are unable to provide visa sponsorship.

This is an exceptional opportunity to get stuck in at a fast-paced, tech-focused, impact-driven start-up. As a Data Engineer, you will be immersed in start-up life, collaborating closely with the product, technical and operational teams - managing the data that glues these teams and Tumelo's products together.
As a Senior Data Engineer at Tumelo, you will be responsible for:
Designing, implementing and maintaining automated data pipelines using Python and AWS
Implementing processes to test data validity, latency and coverage
Building and maintaining data infrastructure for use across the company
Monitoring, triaging and fixing issues alongside fellow Engineers
Taking new ideas from inception through to implementation across our tech stack
Mentoring other Engineers to help them achieve their full potential
These are desirable rather than essential criteria. We welcome applications from people who may not have all the listed criteria but who are willing to learn by doing.
You have experience in the extraction, transformation and loading of data from a variety of sources such as SFTP, Email and APIs
You have excellent proficiency in the use of Python (or similar programming language) for processing and analysing data
You have experience designing serverless architectures
You have experience with IaC tooling (we use Terraform)
You love automated testing and ensuring that test suites are comprehensive
You definitely don't need finance experience but you must be willing to learn
You are passionate about social or environmental issues

The interview process consists of three stages and a technical task that we’ll ask you to complete in your own time.

Flexibility - The data team gather once a month in our London office, and the whole of Tumelo get together once a month in our Bristol office, outside of this we trust team members to work in the way that suits them best, choosing the in-person/remote working mix that's best for you. With "core hours" from 10 am to 3 pm, the rest of your day is yours to plan.
