Job Description

At Comic Relief we do philanthropy differently. This isn’t a traditional ‘major gifts’ role. We use our creative assets to work with talent on high value funds, engage next gen donors via an innovative online platform and curate bespoke events to cultivate and steward our donors. We’re only 18 months into our philanthropy journey and we’ve got big ambitions to realise its full potential. The Senior Philanthropy Associate will support the Head of Philanthropy in developing Comic Relief’s strategy for engagement of ultra-high net worth (UHNW) and high net worth individuals (HNWI), including talent funds and the project management of the online giving platform.

Key Accountabilities / Objectives

  • To support the Philanthropy Manager in the development and delivery of Comic Relief’s Philanthropy strategy and effective engagement of ultra-high net worth and high net worth individuals

  • To identify, cultivate, manage and steward relationships with ultra-high net worth and high net worth individuals

  • To project manage the online philanthropy platform, managing donor relationships

  • To project manage engagement and stewardship events for prospects and donors

  • To support the Head of Philanthropy on the talent foundations strategy and related event/fundraising activities

  • To work with the Head of Philanthropy on the engagement of wealth advisors

  • To work closely with the Impact & Investment team to create propositions for ultra-high net worth and high net worth individuals and to report on funding outcomes

  • To manage the Philanthropy team’s data strategy including the ongoing management of the team’s CRM system and ensuring all Philanthropy activities are GDPR compliant

  • To take a holistic approach to relationship managing individuals who give through family offices, foundations and personally

  • To be accountable for £500,000 annually, incrementally increasing this year on year

Essential Education and Skills:

  • Significant experience working in fundraising and/or sales roles

  • Experience of supporting the delivery of a philanthropy strategy to deliver organisational strategic aims on income and relationships

  • Experience of working in or within either a grant making body and/or a government institution or commercial sector with transferable skills

  • Experience of project and event management

  • Excellent experience of relationship managing with ultra-high net worth and high net worth individuals

  • Proven demonstration of hitting fundraising and/or sales targets

  • Experience of working with CRM systems and good working knowledge of GDPR in relation to fundraising
