CACTX has become a national leader in providing best-practice, evidence-based services to children impacted by abuse, serving nearly 1 million children statewide, through a statewide network of CACs. We have recently scaled our vision to eradicate child sexual abuse and are growing our Advancement team to support our organization’s multiyear, multi-generational journey into this work.

Description:

The Vice President of Communications is responsible for developing and overseeing communications strategy and initiatives ensuring their alignment with the vision, strategy, and programming of CACTX to eradicate child sexual abuse in Texas. To achieve this outcome, the Vice President of Communications provides leadership and overarching strategy for the organization’s communications, public relations, marketing, and brand management efforts. In the first 12 months, this role will develop communications goals and plans that align with organizational priorities in addition to developing the communications business unit.

 

In Summary This Position Will:

  • Lead the Communications Business Unit (BU):

  • Translate the organization’s evolved vision into strategy through the development of dynamic communications plans, content, and campaigns that align with and reinforce CACTX’s expanded vision to eradicate child sexual abuse in Texas.

  • Develop and steward BU strategic goals and objectives, key performance indicators, and integration with BUs across the organization.

  • Connect goals and objectives within the Strategic Initiatives, Advancement, and other BUs to develop strategy and execute communications initiatives.

  • Work closely with the Executive Team and other organizational leadership in developing key messages, communications, and engagement strategies.

  • Attract, cultivate, and activate support for CACTX’s vision, programming, and brand equity through strategic communications across a wide variety of audiences including but not limited to CACs, legislators, external partners, board of directors, stakeholders, and staff.

  • Oversee and manage the Communications BU budget.

  • Manage vendors, partners, and associated procurement as required by organization policy.

 Essential Job Functions:

 Strategic Communications

  • Develops and leads a cohesive communications strategy that supports and aligns with the organization’s vision and multi-year goals and balances elongated timelines and expectations for multi-year initiatives with the need to maintain confidence and engagement among partners and stakeholders.

  • Provides strategic collaboration and cross departmental support to inventory and maximize the effectiveness and impact of CACTX communications to diverse audiences including individuals and entities in both the private and public sectors at the local, state, and national levels, examples include: CACTX staff, board of directors, public and private stakeholders, statewide multidisciplinary team members, CACs, Texas Legislature, Health and Human Services Commission, Office of the Governor, Congress, federal agencies, and the general public.

  • Leads strategic communications efforts to support education and community awareness on child abuse issues as well as CACTX’s ability to provide training, technical assistance, and evaluation services to member CACs.

  • Creates original content, including regularly updated internal and external messaging for use across the organization segmented by audience.

  • Provides consistent identification and evaluation of effectiveness and efficiency of communications efforts.

  • Supports the communications and marketing strategy and overall messaging for various CACTX events for a range of audiences including CACs and other key external partners.

Public Relations, Marketing, & Brand Management

  • Manages all media inquiries and proactive media outreach initiatives to increase public awareness while also weighing risk.

  • Stewards and builds upon CACTX’s brand equity, management, and assets, including the branding and marketing of CACTX’s vision to eradicate child sexual abuse.

  • Develops strategy for and manages all communications and marketing channels including the organization’s various websites and social media channels.

  • Directs the organization’s crisis communication efforts.

  • Provides thought leadership to CACTX public health campaign initiatives.

  • Monitors communications efforts of external partners, victim service agencies, and the general environment in sectors within which CACTX intersects and leverages relevant information and efforts to amplify the work of CACTX.

  • Cultivates relationships with key external stakeholders and other strategic partners to regularly obtain insight to inform communications programming and evaluation.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience building out communications efforts from the ground up to support aggressive awareness and perception goals.

  • Excels at strategically processing and synthesizing diverse and complex information into concise and impactful content and communications for varied audiences.

  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on leader who is as comfortable developing the vision for the communications of the organization as well as delivering on tactical key performance indicators (KPIs) in a timely manner.

  • Proven expertise in brand building, marketing and communications strategy, and campaign development.

  • Demonstrated success with executing integrated communications campaigns in the field and delivering on KPIs with strong return on investment.

  • Ability to function at the highest level, collaborating with executive leadership to enhance the organization’s vision and strategy.

  • Inspiring, influential, relationship-oriented leader who creates loyalty, trust, and following.

  • Passion for the cause.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excels in a fast-paced, change-oriented, optimistic and professional environment.

  • 7-10 years’ experience in leadership communications roles.
