Job Description

Comic Relief are looking for an experienced UI/UX Designer to join the team responsible for digital innovation across our brands (Red Nose Day, Sport Relief and Comic Relief).

You will have the opportunity to shape Comic Relief’s digital innovation projects and improve our design practices, whilst playing a key role in developing and championing our design systems. Your work to optimise the website will have a positive and tangible impact on Comic Relief audiences and will contribute to our ongoing drive to engage the mass UK public and raise money.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivering user experience and interaction design for comicrelief.com and related digital products across Comic Relief, Red Nose Day and Sport Relief.

  • Working closely with the Content Producer to oversee and improve these products, and deliver design assets for campaigns and year-round activities.

  • Optimising the user experience to drive donations.

  • Creating, developing and managing design libraries and files in Figma and Adobe Suite (align with creative team / freelancers)

  • Making sense of business objectives and user needs through continuous research and prototyping.

  • Delivering products in collaboration with in-house developers to satisfy team and organisational objectives and stakeholder needs.

  • Creating seamless, responsive experiences across web, mobile and other connected devices.

  • Working iteratively in an Agile environment, managing end-to-end projects with tools such as Trello, Confluence, Jira and GitHub.

  • Articulating your thinking to colleagues and stakeholders through presentation, demos and mockups.

  • Prototyping and communicating ideas quickly using pen and paper, Keynote and digital prototyping tools.

  • Collaborating with the Data Analytics Manager and the Digital Marketing Manager to review, analyse and provide recommendations for optimising digital audience journeys across multiple channels. Test and review output to optimise the user experience.

  • Feed strategic recommendations regarding digital design to the Marketing Lead to optimise digital performance and promote brand consistency.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:

  • A design-related discipline or degree preferred, such as Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Visual Communications, Human-Centred Design, Product/Industrial Design.

  • Extensive experience of UX software (Figma, Sketch or Adobe XD) and Adobe C Suite. Will also need knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suite. Ability to create icon libraries is desirable.

  • Candidates ideally have several years of industry experience (agency or in-house design environment), proficient in multi-tasking and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Able to apply methodologies and iterate throughout the design process, in areas such as concept mockups, ideation, user flows, information architecture, personas and analysis.

  • Can demonstrate both systems-thinking and storytelling ability, excellent can-do attitude with attention-to-detail, and the ability to deliver strategic insights.

  • Excellent presentation, project-management and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of Shopify or ecommerce would be beneficial to this role but it is not essential.

  • Good sketching and illustration ability would be a bonus.

  • Passion for charity and social purpose is a plus, as is a good knowledge of the wider NGOs landscape.
