The world is looking to build back differently from the COVID-19 pandemic, presenting a unique opportunity to transform the way we live and work. As the sustainability movement hits a pivotal moment, do you want to use your communications and marketing skills to help create a more regenerative and just future?

If so, we are looking for a creative, proactive, and outcomes-oriented Digital and PR Executive to join a growing international communications team. With an eye for a strong story, are you able to package up compelling and creative content for both owned and earned media?

A key position, the Digital and PR Executive will play a leading role in managing our day-to-day web, social media and press activities. In doing so, you’ll help us raise awareness of and drive engagement in our mission to reimagine the way the world works. As part of this, you will also support the delivery of our programmes across climate, value chains, food and more - as well as supporting income generation.

About Forum for the Future

Forum for the Future is a leading international sustainability non-profit. For 25 years we’ve been working in partnership with business, governments and civil society to accelerate the transformation toward a just and regenerative future.

We use our systems change and futures expertise to help tackle critical global challenges: the climate emergency, transforming our food and farming systems, and ensuring supply chains are more resilient and more equitable. We also enable long-term, transformative change by equipping individuals and organizations to act more systemically, through our School of System Change.

About the team

Based in the UK, you will work in our dynamic, global Connect team, which includes corporate and project communications/marketing as well as fundraising. We work to increase Forum for the Future’s brand profile - developing effective marketing strategies to drive and demonstrate organisational impact. We also lead Forum’s fundraising efforts. Beyond our immediate team, you should also have the willingness, knowledge and interest to support more broadly across Forum’s work.

About the role

Working with the Digital Manager based in our India office and others across Forum teams, you will help develop and deliver our digital communications and engagement strategy across our core work, key programmes, the Futures Centre and the School of System Change. You will be responsible for sourcing, producing and publishing compelling content for owned and earned media, which will enable you to work with colleagues from across the organisation.

You will also support the Head of Marketing and Communications, and the Project Communications leads in developing and delivering Forum’s global press strategy, with a focus on drafting media materials and using databases and other tools to drive media engagement.

Across digital and press, you will use monitoring and evaluation tools to audit and analyse our efforts, report on KPIs and key metrics, and make recommendations for innovation and improvement.

About you

You will have worked in a similar role where you gained experience of or had exposure to working in a digital communications role in a marketing or communications team, including managing organisational social media profiles and end-to-end digital communications campaigns. You will also have experience in press work, working as part of a team to identify compelling storytelling opportunities with real potential to cut-through the noise and secure strong media coverage.

To thrive in this role you will be:

  • passionate about sustainability and the role of communications and marketing in building a just and regenerative future

  • an excellent communicator, with native-level English language writing skills and strong attention to detail

  • experienced in writing and editing effective long and short-form content for a variety of channels and audiences, preferably on topics around sustainability and Forum’s key areas of work

  • well-versed in organic and paid social media, experienced in managing organisation profiles and pages on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram; and you will bring an understanding of the role social media plays in building brand profile and reputation

  • experienced in writing copy with SEO best practice guidelines

  • eager to build on your design skills and apply your strong ability to understand and translate complex content into innovative visuals / graphics

  • familiar with media relations including but not limited to press office work - from drafting media materials to pitching stories and handling queries such as interview requests

  • adaptive and resilient in the face of complexity and uncertainty

  • a proactive team player, able to work effectively across a matrixed structure and across a number of different projects, teams, cultures and time zones.

In addition, you will have:

  • basic video editing and creation skills and a basic understanding of web layouts and print collateral design

  • an understanding of business tools and data analytics offered by various social media and/or earned media platforms to track performance

  • an understanding of user demographics present on various social media platforms and how this can support online targeting

  • a commitment to continual learning and development

  • a curious, creative yet analytical mind, keen to try things out, track and understand data and make recommendations for improvements.
