Job Description

Introduction to the role

We are looking for a Contracts Assistant who is keen to launch a career in publishing as part of a friendly, dynamic central team responsible for all aspects of contracting with our authors. The role will introduce candidates to the commercial terms as well as teaching how to draft agreements. As the team works across all of the publishing divisions, there is lots of opportunities to work alongside colleagues in the publishing and rights divisions.  The role is entry level with plenty of scope to progress.

 

Core Accountabilities

  • Drafting contracts for example for acquisitions and licensing of rights.

  • Draft confidentiality agreements, standard competition terms & conditions.

  • Review most Contract Request Forms as they are submitted to the department.

  • Support team by entering contract information into royalties’ database.

  • Manage permissions requests with the Contracts team.

  • Undertake special projects and other duties as decided by the Contracts Manager.

     

Experience and Skills

  • Administrative experience

  • Previously worked in an office environment

  • Good knowledge of MS programmes including Word, Excel and Outlook

  • A good team player who is capable of working on their own initiative

  • Computer literate with a good eye for detail

  • Curious and inquisitive

  • A confident and effective communicator in written and verbal media

  • Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure

  • Highly organised and able to effectively prioritise and manage workloads

  • Accustomed to working towards deadlines
