Job Description

About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a part time Branch Administrator to join the Nottinghamshire Branch at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity on a 6 month fixed term contract.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 82,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet: those currently serving, reserves, veterans, and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran – no one’s service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person’s life back to where they want it to be.

You will be providing administrative support, working closely with branch volunteers in order to ensure the branch is fully supported and able to function.  This will include supporting branch volunteers, call handling, administer branch meetings and support with awareness of SSAFA locally.

About the team

In this role you will be working closely with volunteers from SSAFA Nottinghamshire Branch providing support to them to be able to carry out the day to day working of the branch.

About you

To carry out this role successfully you will be a team player with excellent organisational, written, and verbal communication, and IT skills.  You will also have experience of working with volunteers and the ability to manage relationships with stakeholders. You must have experience in an office management role with good knowledge of office management procedures.

Experience of the planning meetings and related administrative process would be an advantage but is not essential.

You will also be an effective IT User, notably Office 365. However, we will train you in the SSAFA -specific systems you will need for the role.

About SSAFA

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing practical, emotional, and financial support to our Forces and their families since 1885. Last year our teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 79,000 people in need, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts or are still currently serving, and their families.

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. We are here for that person – any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us.

Diversity and Inclusion at SSAFA

SSAFA exists to support a diverse range of beneficiaries within the armed forces community, and we believe diversity within our teams is key to ensuring we can deliver our services effectively. We thrive on differences and believe it is critical to our success as a worldwide charity. SSAFA is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace that seeks to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We therefore encourage applications from all genders, races, religions, ages and sexual orientations, as well as parents, veterans, people living with disabilities, and any other groups that could bring diverse perspectives to our business.

SSAFA is committed to using the Disclosure & Barring Service to ensure we, as an employer, safeguard those we serve.
