Special Projects Manager

12 month contract (possible part time or full time)

Role Overview

The Special Projects Manager will work within and manage part of the Berlin-based partnerships team, providing strategic support for the entire sales and delivery process across a range of discrete projects. 

The Role

  • Work closely with the partnerships team and executive chairperson to suggest and qualify new business leads, draft proposals and close partnership agreements

  • Run engaging and effective meetings and communications with Apolitical’s external partners and potential partners 

  • Design and execute project plans that drive towards success and impact for Apolitical and its partners 

  • Efficiently manage projects through proposal, budgeting, contracting, delivery, reporting and closing stages, producing contract deliverables on time and to a high standard 

  • Represent Apolitical as a speaker or moderator at international events across a variety of policy topics and fields 

  • Provide strategic input to the sales and delivery functions of Apolitical 

  • Manage a small (three people) but growing team within the Berlin office (during a maternity leave cover)

Your Skills 

  • You have 8 years experience working in a start-up or other dynamic and fast-paced workplace

  • You are a strategic thinker with a strong track record in consultancy and/or project management 

  • You are a strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a clear, concise writing style and you are excited by presenting at and moderating panels and events of varying sizes 

  • You are able to work quickly and adapt to the changing needs of partners and the company - we are a small, dynamic start up that thrives on being agile and adaptable

  • You are an effective manager with demonstrated experience working across multiple projects simultaneously, possessing tried and tested approaches to managing competing priorities 

  • You have previous experience working on high-level events and conferences

  • You have previous experience successfully managing small teams 

  • You have a keen interest in public policy, systems change, or social business and a keen sense of current affairs and issues pertaining to government and the third sector

  • You have good familiarity with Microsoft Office and GSuite, with visual communications skills such as InDesign a plus

  • Previous experience designing and running fellowship and or training programs is a plus

  • You are fluent in written and spoken English. The ideal candidate can speak and write in German. Spanish, Portuguese or French language proficiency is a plus.
