Our Business Development Team 

Our Business Development team is responsible for promoting the Firm to the Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs) community as a whole. We are involved in a broad range of activities including:

  • Developing Intermediary relationships across the UK and Ireland

  • On-boarding of new clients either through our Model Portfolio Service or bespoke solutions

  • Proactively marketing the Firm to the Financial Advisors, Accountants and Lawyers

  • Working in partnership with IFAs to tailor advice/resources for their client base 

Business Development Academy Overview

Our Trainee Business Development Manager positions are an outstanding starting point for a career in the Wealth Management industry. Starting in February 2023, we are looking to hire three Trainee Business Development Managers to join us on a 2 year programme in our Business Development team. Upon successful completion, you will transfer permanently into one of our Business Development teams in line with your career progression and ambitions.

These positions will help develop additional business pipelines from the intermediary market. This is an opportunity to learn about financial markets, build on your core business development skills and be part of one of the most successful Wealth Management firms in the UK.

This new team will grow organically by delivering support to the whole business development function at LGT. Applicants should expect to be part of a expanding team, creating longer term opportunities for career development. 

You will assist the lead Business Development Director (BDD) in their role where you will promote LGT to the Intermediary market in order to increase the firm’s Assets under Management (AUM). You will be encouraged and supported to take industry exams as your career progresses. You will act as an ambassador for the Firm and to actively promote LGT across the UK. 

Key Responsibilities

Full training will be given: 

  • Responsible for contributing to and communicating the overall business strategy for LGT to Intermediaries.

  • To support the Business Development team as we attract AUM for LGT from the Intermediary sector in line with the targets agreed with the Head of Business Development.

  • Be alert to other opportunities in the market that might require investment management including charities and small institutional investors.

  • To market LGT to IFAs and others intermediaries as appropriate who can influence the buying decision.

  • To explore, research and create other opportunities in line with regulatory changes and developments in the market.

  • Help develop and maintain internal and external professional relationships to encourage future investment opportunities.

  • Ensure that all account relationships, activities or management of client relationships do not expose LGT to unacceptable levels of legal, regulatory, operational or reputational risk.

Key Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the letter, spirit and expectations of applicable legal and regulatory requirements at all times (e.g. FCA, Money Laundering/Proceeds of Crime, Data Protection, Health and Safety), ensure conformance with LGT’s best practice with regard to conduct, culture and other general business compliance control procedures.

Salary, Benefits & Working Arrangements

We offer all our graduates a competitive starting salary of up to £35,000, with 25 days’ holiday per year plus an extensive range of additional benefits that you can select from our flexible benefits offering.

We provide all our employees a one-off £300 homeworking allowance that you can claim if you wish to buy equipment to create an effective homeworking set up (for example purchasing a desk, chair, screen monitors, wi-fi signal booster etc).

Your primary place of work will be in our City of London office. Our trainees will follow the hybrid model of working in the office and homeworking, however we would expect you to be in the office for the vast majority of every working week (with working from home subject to approval with your line manager) to support your development and relationship building in your role. You will also have opportunities to travel regionally.
