Job Description

Are you interested in accelerating EV charging across the GTHA? In this position, you’ll lead The Atmospheric Fund's EV work and manage a major funding program, playing a key role in advancing TAF’s strategic priority to accelerate the adoption of EVs and EV infrastructure in the GTHA. If you're a program manager extraordinaire with a passion for urban climate solutions, we want to talk to you!

This is a full-time, two-year contract reporting to the Director of Strategy and Grants. TAF is a flexible and hybrid workplace, with staff working a day or two a week in our downtown Toronto office (and the balance of the week remote-working), although alternative arrangements can be discussed.

*The starting salary range for this role is $73,000 - $78,000 in 2023. TAF is currently phasing in updates to our salaries, which will be completed in 2024. The final target salary range for this role is $81,000-$86,000. Previous experience and education will determine starting salary within the range.

We'll be reviewing applications on a rolling basis, so encourage you to apply soon!

What you'll do:

  • Program Design and Development

    • Monitor developments and trends in the EV charging field, participate in relevant forums, and synthesize lessons to support continuous program improvement and relevance.

    • Ensure that the EV charging program remains in compliance with our funder requirements.

    • Support fundraising efforts to amplify the impact of the program.

  •  Program Management and Reporting

    • Manage the full cycle of the funding approval process: from initial inquiry and application intake to approval and contracting.

    • Maintain detailed and up-to-date files on the status of all applications and funded projects.

    • Review project reports to assess progress towards deliverables; approve the release of funds or, when necessary, liaise with project proponents to ensure contractual requirements are met.

    • Implement strong processes and procedures to promote effective administration of the program.

    • Manage the program budget.

    • Lead the reporting on program progress and outcomes to senior staff, Committee and Board members, and key funders.

  • Community Liaison and Advisory

    • Promote TAF’s EV charging program to relevant stakeholders across the GTHA.

    • Work with colleagues to leverage TAF’s network and cultivate partners who can refer high-quality applications to the EV charging program.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for projects funded under the EV charging program, both in the project development and project implementation phases.

    • Work collaboratively with TAF’s technical advisors to ensure that EV chargers are installed successfully and that project proponents receive a seamless and satisfying client experience.

    • Facilitate knowledge transfer by drawing out program learnings and sharing them with the TAF team and community partners to maximize impact, in collaboration with TAF’s Communications team.

The experience and skills we're looking for:

  • At least three years’ experience managing a complex, multi-year program or project, including planning, implementation, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and post-hoc evaluation.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience

  • Strong working knowledge of (and lots of passion for) urban climate solutions in general and electric mobility solutions in particular.

  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the determination to identify and deliver creative solutions, adapt to quickly changing circumstances, solve problems, and pursue new directions as needed.

  • Proven stakeholder relations expertise, including managing relationships with a wide variety of community stakeholders with diplomacy and tact.

  • An existing understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, the technical elements involved in managing electric charging installation projects.

  • Excellent budgeting, organizational and administrative skills.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with confidence in speaking to and engaging with internal and external audiences and ability to communicate and present ideas well.

  • Proficiency in various Microsoft tools including Outlook, Work, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Comfortable using video conferencing tools including Zoom and MS Teams for meetings, events, as well as day-to-day team collaboration.

  • Experience working with Salesforce is an asset.

  • Ability to travel occasionally throughout the GTHA as needed. Drivers license is an asset.
