This role, within the Policy and Public Affairs team, will drive forward the delivery of the Trussell Trust’s policy influencing strategy to end the need for food banks in the UK. The Senior Policy Officer will be responsible for the delivery of policy activity (e.g. briefings and consultation responses) across the policy team. The role will work with the Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager to monitor and assess policy influencing plans, and the Research team to support policy research planning.  

Role responsibilities

·       Coordinate and deliver policy activity, including briefings, select committee written evidence and consultation responses

·       Maintain in-depth expertise in key policy areas which contribute to our strategic goal of ending the need for food banks, such as Universal Credit, disability benefits, and debt

·       Support the development of a policy programme for local influencing in England

·       Build and manage strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including sector partners working in key policy areas

·       Support key colleagues to plan and deliver the Trussell Trust’s wider influencing strategy, including colleagues in the Policy and Research department and beyond

·       Provide advice and line management, including regular 1:1s and assessment against objectives
