Job Description
The Advocacy and Impact Associate will primarily support the scale up of the Comic Relief-GSK Partnership’s advocacy, impact and communications work in 2020. They will work closely with the Senior Advocacy Lead and other members of the GSK team to help the Partnership deliver on its external engagement objectives.
Responsibilities
Help identify stories of impact and support the development of engaging locally-led content that can be used for media throughout 2020, as well as be resources for advocacy partners to use in their campaign work
Support the Senior Advocacy Lead to develop and disseminate quality learning products such as policy and learning briefs, plain language summaries, case studies and infographics
Work closely with Partnership grantees to help them communicate their research and learning findings to key target audiences
Support with the organisation of events and other external engagement activities that Comic Relief participates in, including events overseas
Work closely with the GSK Impact and Programmes leads to aggregate grant report data, and translate grant reporting into stories of impact that can be used by the Influence Team and Communications Teams
Represent the CR-GSK Partnership in internal fora and actively participate in collaborative cross-functional working across the wider organisation
Provide general administrative support to the GSK Partnerships team, for example, chairing monthly meetings of the Internal GSK Working Group and disseminating notes and actions to participants
Essential Skills and Experience
Experience working in Advocacy and / or Strategic Communications with a strong ability to craft engaging stories and communicate impact effectively
Experience organising events, producing knowledge products such as evidence notes, evidence summaries, and policy briefs, and working cross-organisationally to deliver results
Excellent skills in managing data include consolidation and information/data analysis
Excellent communication skills, verbally and written, including the ability to communicate research and policy issues to non-specialists
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with people from across a wide range of disciplines and roles, to build strong, productive and pro-active teams
A versatile, team player than can pick things up quickly
A well organised planner with good attention to detail and time management skills
A commitment to empowering people to tell their own stories with a strong empathy and sensitivity to different cultural context
Experience working in International Development or Global Health is desirable
Experience working in an Advocacy or Strategic Communications role in the Global South is desirable
