Job Description

Job purpose 

Alongside Head of Learning and Development, oversee implementation of the Trussell Trust’s people strategy, assisting and equipping the workforce to achieve the vision of an end to the need for foodbanks in the UK.  

Principal accountabilities 

  • Identify training and development needs within the network/organisation through job analysis and regular consultation with key stakeholders 

  • Design training and development programmes based on the needs of the network/organisation, team and the individual 

  • Consider the costs of planned programmes and keep within budgets, planning and assessing the 'return on investment' of any training or development programme 

  • Develop effective induction programmes for new staff, apprentices and graduate trainees, monitoring and validating the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with managers 

  • Produce training materials for in-house courses, creating and delivering a range of e-learning packages 

  • Ensure that statutory training requirements are met within the network/Directorates 

  • Implement talent management, succession planning, strategies across directorates 

  • Implement data-led engagement and well-being initiatives to ensure that staff are well-assisted and motivated in line with the organisation’s values 

  • Reflect the values of the Trussell Trust, role-modelling leadership behaviours and acting as an advocate of the culture, ensuring it thrives throughout the organisation 

  • Actively contribute to a culture of innovation, resourcefulness and best practice to make the best use of time and skills in the team 

  • Promote teamworking and flexible working across the People & Culture team and the wider organisation

  • Any other reasonable duties as specified by the line manager to support the work of the Trust.
