Job Description

The Royalty Team Member’s responsibility is to ensure royalty statements to our authors are accurate and queries answered quickly. This role is well suited to those with solid numeracy skills and/or knowledge of finance with excellent customer service skills. This is a busy role which works closely with our authors and their agents to ensure that their royalties are paid accurately and in a timely manner. The position involves problem solving and requires a good level of attention to detail.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reviewing and amending royalty statements to ensure they are accurate

  • Updating author accounts with royalty adjustments

  • Processing royalty payments

  • Maintaining author records i.e. payment information and changes to estates

  • Paying out advances and earning

  • Investigating sales rejections, checking contract terms and finance systems

  • Fixing any rejections on the system and confirming recalculations

  • Linking our books (or titles) to contracts on the system

  • Interpreting contractual information and compare against the royalty system

  • Answering queries from our authors and their agents

Skills and Experience

  • Recent customer service experience

  • Knowledge or experience of finance function

  • Good mathematical skills

  • Computer literate and confident with very strong Excel skills

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple and varying projects and tasks

  • Excellent problem solving and organisational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Able to provide exceptional service to our authors and agents and clearly explain complex information in an understandable way

  • Ability to listen and accurately record information

  • Helpful and able to establish good working relationships within the Royalty function, with other HarperCollins departments, and with authors/agents.

  • Able to deal with pressures of workload
