Job Description

We’re introducing this exciting role to help us make a step change in our Safeguarding practice. The role will support, challenge, advise and train the ECB’s partners in the cricket network on their safeguarding responsibilities and practice. This will enable the ECB’s partners to improve their safeguarding practice, and to be able to demonstrate they have done so.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Support First Class Counties, County Boards and National County Cricket Clubs to achieve the safeguarding requirements set out in the County Partnership Agreement and help them move towards best practice in safeguarding. 

  • Strategic liaison with Board Safeguarding Leads and Lead Officers to ensure consistent Safeguarding standards across the County network. 

  • Provide guidance, advice and training to the Safeguarding Officer network and cricket partners. 

  • Provide feedback on performance and progress on agreed action plans as part of the County Partnership Agreement 

  • Conduct audits as part of the County Partnership process and safeguarding standards 

  • Support ECB departments to embed safeguarding  

  • Identify and respond to potential safeguarding risks.  

  • Develop policies and guidance to mitigate safeguarding risks including adults at risk 

  • Support in the tracking and monitoring of participants subject to conditional agreements and vetting of all regulated activity roles 

  • Support development and implementation of digital safeguarding solutions 

  • Monitor and assess the compliance of counties and clubs in relation to Safe Hands Management System 

  • Develop and deliver safeguarding training to ensure the needs of the cricket network are met. 

  • Develop and support Safeguarding structures and policies for ECB talent pathways. 

  • Be a point of contact for safeguarding advice for internal and external partners including statutory agencies.  

  • Promote consistent and clear messaging around safeguarding  

  • Participate in planning and delivery of annual safeguarding conference 

  • Attend and support cricket events as Designated Safeguarding Lead   

  • Support any additional areas of work across the safeguarding team, as requested by your line manager.  

YOU’LL HAVE

•         A proven professional background in safeguarding (this could be from statutory or non-statutory background) and the ability to identify good practice and practice that requires improvement

•         Experience of developing safeguarding standards

•         Organisational and time-keeping skills

•         Excellent people skills

•         The ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workloads

•         An understanding of the needs of volunteers

•         Experience of communicating with children and young people in a to establish their thoughts and ideas

•         the ability to support and challenge individuals at all levels, from club volunteers to Senior managers.

•         An understanding or experience of cricket or other sport will be useful

•         A proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humour, understanding the ever-changing sport environment, which will include unsociable hours and the occasional weekend.
