Job Description

About Talis

Talis is an early-stage venture capital firm on a mission to back technology founders who see the future differently. We focus on partnering with high-growth consumer & enterprise companies, across Europe and US, at Seed and Series A. Our portfolio of category defining companies includes Carta, Darktrace, Onfido, and Ynsect.

Talis is different by design, we are a close-knit team, and pride ourselves on our unconventionality. When it comes who we back, how we build and who we hire, we don’t let conventional wisdom stand in our way. We believe that to create different, you have to be different. We are now looking for an exceptional associate to join our team to help us find and continue to invest in the best early-stage startups across Europe and the US.

As an associate, you will source new interesting companies, analyse prospective investments, support portfolio companies, conduct in-depth sector research, and manage models that deliver key insights on industry developments and trends.

About you

At Talis, we pride ourselves in high performance culture focused on team effort to help founders build massive businesses. We are looking for individuals who took risks and achieved some sort of success in early life, have high IQ and EQ, and have a mental model of how to learn. We are expecting to speak with a wide range of diverse candidates and will be looking for someone with the following traits:

  • Passion for company building, intellectual curiosity, need to win, and immense appreciation for technologies that are changing the world we live in.

  • Systems thinking mindset – we are specifically looking for individuals with ability to separate causes from symptoms and understand causality in complex systems.

  • We’re big on teamwork and company culture, but we're also looking for a person who thrives in developing their own investment theses and enjoys setting their own targets and deadlines. It’s important for us that you’re a self-starter who can take ownership and complete tasks with limited information and direction.

  • You have a sense of curiosity and are not afraid to question or challenge opinions. Being highly analytical with strong communication is key to this role and we are seeking candidates who have a desire to see beyond the common view and mainstream trends, however disputed or complex they may be.

  • Your attention to detail is second to none and you are able to analyse data with accuracy and focus.

  • 2–3 years' experience within investment banking, management consultancy or private equity is a must.

Benefits:

  • You’ll join a team that puts employee wellbeing and mental health as a key priority; we offer free personal trainer team sessions 3x a week at midday as well as many other benefits.

  • You’ll be joining a dynamic and entrepreneurial team which is fun and non-hierarchical.

  • You’ll get a chance to interact with the most exciting technology entrepreneurs, companies and investors, and be at the forefront of tech innovation.
