Junior QA Engineer
Made by Many
- Closing: 11:55pm, 31st Aug 2018 BST
Job Description
Made by Many is a digital innovation consultancy focused on bringing digital to the core of our clients’ businesses. We deliver agile product development and organisational change through the collaboration of design, technology, business and product strategy.
At Made by Many, we believe that quality is critical to the success of the products and services we create. To ensure that we are producing high-quality work, we incorporate quality assurance (QA) as an integral part of our development process, and regard QA as having as much of a stake in a project as the designers and strategists conceiving it.
The role
We are looking for someone who is early in their QA career or wanting to take their first steps in one. We believe in learning through doing — this is a fantastic opportunity to start your journey into the world of digital product development. In this position you’ll get the opportunity to influence the product development process from start to finish, and you’ll play an important role in ensuring that the user experience is at the core of it.
While no prior experience in testing is required, attention to detail, clear reasoning skills and an ability to empathise with users will be essential for the role. Patience, persistence and an interest in how things work will be important as well.
You will work closely with and learn from our Lead QA, and you will be working with designers and developers to create new digital experiences, from web sites to mobile apps. Your job is to help make sure that everything works as intended, and you’ll also act as an advocate for the user, casting ever-fresh eyes on the work to ensure that it all makes sense.
A significant aspect of the role will be to perform exploratory testing. Exploratory tests — unlike scripted tests — are not defined in advance or carried out according to a fixed plan. It serves as a complement to automated testing in helping to establish greater confidence in the software by ensuring more defects are found early in development.
We make use of exploratory testing to take a more human, hands-on approach that allows us to ensure the overall quality of the product. The QA team vigorously tests systems using real or virtualised devices and browsers. The goal is to allow for more freeform behaviour and to think more like a user, to better uncover bugs and usability issues.

Use own initiative to investigate issues
