Job Description
PURPOSE
To support the development of ECB Professional Umpires’ Team (PUT) Umpires.

YOU’LL BE DOING
‘Observe’ umpires officiating professional cricket and, to a lesser degree, in pathway environments.
Offer written and verbal feedback on aspects of technical, on-field performance and off-field skills and behaviours.
Work particularly closely with a selected group of umpires, to be agreed with the Professional Umpires’ Manager.
Assist with the establishment, review, monitoring and evaluation of umpires’ development plans.
Contribute to the identification of umpires with the potential to progress within and to the Professional Umpires’ Team.
Liaise regularly with the Professional Umpires’ Manager, sharing information relevant to the umpires’ development.
Collaborate regularly with the other Professional Umpire Coaches, sharing information relevant to the umpires’ development.
Assist the Professional Umpires’ Manager in supporting umpires’ readiness for every competition. For example, by preparing and delivering education sessions at pre- and mid-season meetings.
Review reports from ECB match referees, identify umpires’ strengths and areas for development and review with them (the umpires).
Draw upon knowledge and expertise to assist umpires identified as requiring specialist or particular support.

Skills:
Knowledge and understanding:
Of trends relevant to umpiring in the professional game.
Of professional cricket structures in England and Wales.
Of the Laws of Cricket, Playing Conditions and ECB directives and how they should be applied in professional cricket.
Of the skills, knowledge and attributes required to officiate in professional cricket.
Experience:
Significant experience of umpiring professional cricket in England and Wales.
Supporting the development of cricket umpires.
Skills:

Ability to collaborate effectively.
Ability to deliver timely, appropriate, and effective feedback.
