Are you an experienced events professional who is adept at both Sales and Production?
Are you looking for more strategic control of your events portfolio?
PUBLIC has established Europe’s biggest GovTech conference, the GovTech Summit, in Paris. We are now looking for an ambitious and experienced events professional to build on this success by developing and executing on a future events strategy in Europe. You will have the support of a sponsorship sales manager and an operations associate, as well as the possibility of growing your team as opportunities arise.
PUBLIC is looking for a strategic events professional with a commercial events background to join its growing team in London. The Head of Events is a pivotal role within the business that combines excellent people management and motivational skills with a strong entrepreneurial ethos.
Core responsibilities include:
Strategy Development & Execution
Build the PUBLIC events brand, starting with the GovTech Summit but building out to other events under that brand family, both in Europe and Internationally.
Develop an annual strategic plan and objectives for the overall department and each event
Develop a financial forecast taking accountability for overall strategic and financial growth
Identify event launch and growth opportunities to strengthen the portfolio year on year; leveraging our research topics and conducting in-depth market research to determine the commercial viability and go-to-market strategy of future events
P&L & Budget Responsibility
Monitor and increase net profitability, continually reviewing and adjusting revenue and cost targets.
Overseeing each event to balance risk, maximize lead time and optimize profits.
Direct Oversight of Events Team
Hire, develop and retain an “A” grade team
Ultimately our Head of Events will be tasked with the ongoing growth of a portfolio of events and a team of talented professionals. REQUIREMENTS
Our Ideal Candidate:
A passionate person who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by our company mission and keen to become expert in the GovTech space.
A team player who is genuinely collaborative and willing to get their hands dirty when it’s needed
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Commercial and profit focused, an agile thinker who assimilates complex information quickly.
A multi-tasker with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to juggle projects and drive results
Experience
Proven track record in commercial B2B conference/events management (Conference, 1-2-1 Meetings, Exhibition/Confex. Publishing, Business Intelligence) with experience in both conference sales and program development
People management experience
Experience in the following industry sectors is an advantage but not a requirement: public services or technology
Language skills advantageous, particularly French, German and/or Danish.
