ROLE SUMMARY
This purpose of this role is to lead on the Revitalising Trusts Programme which UKCF runs in partnership with the Charity Commission and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport. This is an extremely exciting programme that has revitalised over £30m since its inception and this role will be pivotal in its on-going success. The role will involve working closely with the Charity Commission and our member Community Foundations. There is an element of sales and marketing to the role, in promoting the programme to prospective inactive trusts; and an element of administration, navigating through charity governance to enable trusts to be transferred. The post-holder will be accountable for the whole process of revitalising national-focussed trusts to UKCF and for encouraging member community foundations with local trusts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead on the development and delivery of the Revitalising Trusts Programme
Work closely with and build strong relationships with the Charity Commission and DCMS
Manage the inactive trusts pipeline, ensuring timely progress
Liaise empathetically with trustees from inactive trusts
Ownership of revitalising national trusts through UKCF
Work to agreed transfer value targets for UKCF and for member CFs
Act as a liaison between CFs and the Charity Commission regarding the programme
Encouraging CFs in revitalising trusts in their local areas
Work through various process required to transfer trusts and trust funds. This will include navigating charity governance requirements and changing bank mandates
Monthly reporting to the programme steering group
Ensure clear comms about the programme are sent to all stakeholders as required
Proactively look to improve the programme processes to enhance its success
Act as an external ambassador for UKCF wherever appropriate, championing Community Foundations and the effectiveness of community-led approaches
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Skills and Experience
Experience of working with trusts and good knowledge of charity governance
Strong finance skills including the ability to produce financial reports and a knowledge of charity endowments
A track record of influencing stakeholders, key opinion-formers and decision makers
Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise conflicting tasks
Sales and marketing experience
Legal experience is not essential but would be an asset to the role
Personal qualities
Mature, empathetic, engaging, diplomatic and persuasive, with the ability to engage with people at all levels including senior policy/ decision makers
Fast paced, unafraid of hard work, solution focused
A completer-finisher who takes pride in seeing projects through to the end
Someone who enjoys complex problem solving
