About Us 

The National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) has an unswerving commitment to high quality, evidence-informed teacher education, and is on a mission to improve the quality of teacher and leader development across the system.     

We are recruiting for an experienced Administrator to join our ITE faculty team. They will support our ITE Programme Managers, who are responsible for the proactive and effective planning, execution and administration of ITE.  The ITE Faculty Administrator reports to the ITE Faculty Coordinator alongside the Head of ITE Faculty and ITE Senior Programme Manager. They will work closely with their counterparts in our four regions to ensure that our ITE provision is well supported.  

Candidates will be within commuting distance to one of our campuses in the North-West (Blackburn) or London. This is a hybrid working role with both work from home and on campus with occasional travel across other regions for meetings. This will be agreed with your Line Manager. 

This is an exciting opportunity to initially support the planning and delivery of the ITE programme whilst we are in start-up mode and work in close collaboration with colleagues nationally to ensure the provision is of high quality.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Co-ordinating and administering our ITE programme.  

To be a key point of contact for our programme participants and programme managers, supporting them with responses around programme logistics and administration:   

  • To assist with ensuring all internal and external records are kept accurate and up to date including Single Central Records across regions, DfE Register, Tracker of Trainees, Mentor attendance and Distribution Groups.

  • Ensuring all relevant stakeholders have appropriate access to MS Teams Tiles, EdPuzzle,  Apprenticeship One-File and all other external portals/systems.

  • To assist with registering all trainees on Student Finance, ensuring applications are accurate portal updated with any new applications, changes, deferrals and withdrawals

  • To assist the University of Birmingham team to ensure accurate record keeping and the smooth administration of the PGCE programme.

  • To draft and post programme updates for trainees and colleagues on Microsoft Teams.  

  • To set up and help prepare key events for programmes, including the drafting of materials, printing, venue booking, etc. 

  • To support key events e.g. managing sign-in, etc.   

  • To support the Regional Principal, Head of ITE and Senior Programme Manager with all other administrative efforts around the School Direct and Assessment Only programmes.  This might include tasks like; helping to organise key meetings with our Associate Colleges, administrative tasks related to our other programmes (ITT, ECF and NPQ).

  • To support team coordination and team building activities 

  • To provide diary management and PA support as required 

 Essential Criteria 

  • A commitment to the aims of the National Institute of Teaching 

  • An interest in the education sector and a belief in the value of teachers and school leaders 

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.    

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.    

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software packages, such as Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as search engines and online databases   

  • A pro-active approach that focuses on solutions  

  • Highly proficient in managing and monitoring processes which drive successful reporting   

  • A sensitivity to the requirements of different audiences and an ability to adapt style appropriately  

  • A track record of, or the potential to co-ordinate key events or programmes (ideally in the education sector)   

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience of working in a remote and geographically distributed team   

  • Previous experience in the education sector   

  • Experience of using management information systems and/or various online learning environments, particularly Microsoft Teams   

  • Previous team co-ordination/PA experience

Working at the National Institute of Teaching 

Contract: Full time, Permanent 

Salary:  SC5 (£24,496 per annum + benefits) – London weighting applicable for candidates based in London
