Job Description

The Executive Secretariat for the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) is seeking an experienced assurance, oversight or audit professional to lead our assurance and oversight team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building and delivering effective and efficient assurance processes according to ICVCM rules. The key aims of these processes are ensuring that carbon-crediting programs and CCP Tagging remain in compliance with the ICVCM Assessment Framework, Assessment Procedure, related implementing documents, and best practice.

To succeed you will be a pragmatic, results-focused team leader who is able to plan and deliver processes, think strategically and deliver on time. You will have a strong background and relevant qualifications in assurance processes, and have experience in evaluating programs, projects or initiatives against benchmark quality standards.  Demonstrable experience of one or more of these functions within carbon markets is a requirement for this role.

You will be comfortable working collaboratively with external stakeholders and colleagues across multiple time zones and country contexts, and have proven client and stakeholder relationship skills. As part of a dynamic team of professionals, you will be flexible and willing to support the wider activities of the Integrity Council.

Key duties

·        Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of all ICVCM assurance and oversight processes in line with the ICVCM Assessment Procedure

·         Oversee ongoing reporting, monitoring and oversight of CCP-Eligible programs and CCP-Tagged credits (including but not limited to spot-checks, complaints and stakeholder input).

·        Lead investigations, complaint resolution and organise and provide input to hearing panels as required.

·         Manage interactions with ICVCM CCP-Eligible programs to raise and resolve any issues identified under assurance processes.

·         Ensure timely provision of draft papers, research and analysis to support the assurance related decision-making process

·         Lead the assurance team and support the ongoing professional development of team members.

·         Manage and develop the ICVCM Assessment Platform (an electronic interface between ICVCM and applicant carbon crediting programs)

Essential experience

·         Extensive demonstrable professional track record of achievement, with at least 10 years relevant experience in assurance of carbon market programs, projects and/or methodologies

·         Proven experience of successfully managing and motivating a team.

·         Experience of successfully delivering and improving assurance systems and processes.

·         Experience developing and maintaining effective cross-functional working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

·         Strong track record of producing high quality reports and securing board level approval.

Desirable Experience

·         Experience assessing projects and programmes against sustainability standards

·         Experience working in a start-up environment

·         Experience working in an international context and/or across multi-agency project teams

·         Experience in managing assurance software platform and tools.
