The Opportunity

We have an opening for a Senior Technical Solutions Analyst (TSA) in our Digital Technology team. This position can be based in one of our Calgary, Alberta or Denver, Colorado offices and will report to the Team Lead, Application Support. This role will provide Tier 2 level application and integration support for oil and gas software solutions supporting Production Operations, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Land, and Marketing. Experience in Production/Field Operations is required and experience in the other areas will be highly beneficial. We’re looking for someone that enjoys adapting to the rapidly changing IT world and can work closely with business analysts to design and create digital solutions for business groups that align with their digitization goals.   A strong customer service background, troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, and technical aptitude in SQL are critical to success in this role. Programming skills and understanding underlying infrastructure and deployment methods are not required but would be beneficial.  

   

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis with applications, system performance and databases, including SQL queries, data flows, reports, and dashboards 

  • Stewardship for multiple applications (health, evaluation, implementation, upgrades, testing, enhancements, and migrations)   

  • Work with vendors on contracts, problems, upgrades, and new projects using excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills 

  • Understand the support needs and risks of cloud application architecture and on-premise architecture 

  • Troubleshooting reporting and visualization solutions created with Power BI, Tableau, and SSRS 

  

The Requirements

  • Minimum eight years of Oil and Gas application support experience, preferably in Avocet or other field production operations and field data capture applications 

  • Minimum five years of SQL troubleshooting experience 

  • The ability to travel between Canada and the US preferred

  • Experience with a variety of reporting, visualization, and data transformation tools 

  • Understanding and practice of ITIL methodologies 

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar IT Service Management tools  

  • SQL, SSMS, SSAS, and data warehousing knowledge 

  • Understanding of data transformation tools such as Informatica, SSIS, and FME
