People Manager – The Modern House & Inigo
Your job will be to help our team succeed by creating a joyful and high-performing work culture. That means setting the team up for success, championing great work and course-correcting where needed. The role is generalist and will involve everything from HR admin to finding ways to connect the team with our mission. The role will support team members from across the business; working on both The Modern House & Inigo.
Responsibilities
The People Manager’s core responsibilities are to:
Help us build a brilliant People function for every stage of someone’s journey with The Modern House & Inigo:
o Find: help us discover, interview and recruit the best talent
o Kick off: help us onboard people brilliantly, setting them up for success
o Get going: help to set and communicate clear company, team & individual goals
o Check in: support managers to hold useful 121s & performance check-ins
o React: create a culture and practice of thanks, celebration and feedback
o Develop: help our team to grow / get better through training and learning
o Full stop: make sure we thank and say goodbye properly
Sort operational and administrative HR jobs in a timely, tactful way:
o Keep our HR system Personio up to date
o Manage payroll, benefits and contracts
o Make sure we are GDPR compliant
Provide proactive, professional and considered HR guidance to Managers and team members
Maintain our B-Corp registration and work with the team to improve our score
Measure team satisfaction and implement initiatives to improve the experience of working at The Modern House & Inigo.

Knowledge & skills
Essential
Proven generalist HR experience (though this could be your first manager role); People knowledge and experience needed
Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
A willingness to handle the admin; comfortable with contract and policy work with good attention to detail
Independent thinker who can take the initiative and act with confidence, solving problems and designing solutions from scratch
Experience handling difficult subjects and challenging situations with good outcomes
An appetite to create a genuinely joyful and rewarding workplace
Desirable
Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualification
Experience as the sole people role
Work inside a Sales organisation / Commission culture
Team
The People Manager reports into our Finance & Operations Director
The People Manager will also work closely the rest of the management team (our Managing Director and Marketing & Product Director), as well as our Office Manager
