Project Description:
Space Scotland is seeking an intern to focus on enhancing cluster activity within the Scottish space sector. The role involves supporting the coordination of new players across the cluster and improving visibility of companies engaging beyond Scotland to accommodate the growing number of companies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the investigation into existing cluster activities, identifying any gaps or inefficiencies, and proposing strategies for better integration and collaboration among cluster members. This will involve engaging with stakeholders from the Scottish space industry, academia, and development agencies to gain insights into current cluster dynamics.
The main objectives include supporting the strengthening of connections, fostering partnerships, and maximising the collective impact of the cluster on the Scottish space sector. Through data-driven assessments, the candidate will contribute to producing a comprehensive report outlining findings and recommendations.
Sample projects may include:
1. Engaging with new players in Scotland: The candidate will support initiatives to gather feedback from new entrants into the Scottish space sector.
2. Creating online resources: The candidate will assist in developing online resources for current and potential cluster members. This could include building a digital platform or portal where members can access information, tools, and networking opportunities to support their participation in the cluster.
Overall, the project aims to empower the Space Scotland cluster to operate more cohesively, especially with the growing number of organisations in Scotland, leverage local expertise on a global stage, and contribute significantly to the growth and development of the Scottish space sector.

Applicant Specification:
Space Scotland is seeking candidates who are eager, curious, and proactive to join our team for a summer internship opportunity.
We are a small team and therefore require a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and ask targeted questions.
Minimum Requirements:
Enthusiastic, creative, and self-motivated individuals with a keen interest in the space industry.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organisational skills and self-discipline to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to critical timelines.
Comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders
Desirable Requirements:
Knowledge or passion for the space industry or related technological fields.
Previous experience in marketing, branding, or business development roles.
Proficiency in utilising digital marketing tools and platforms for effective communication and outreach.
Process details:
8 weeks minimum fixed term contract to be agreed with successful candidate
In-person Induction Event to be held on Monday 24 June 2024, and an in-person/hybrid Showcase Event to be held in Autumn 2024.
4 days holiday to be taken during the placement

Space Scotland is a not-for-profit company set up in 2021 to support, develop, and enhance the Scottish Space sector through active engagement with Scottish space industry, academics and development agencies. Through partnerships and output-driven working group discussions, Space Scotland will deliver on the priorities of the Scottish Space Strategy, linking across the wider UK to support the National Space Strategy.
Space Scotland represent the Scottish Space industry interests both national and internationally, ensuring there is recognition of the local expertise that can be leveraged on a global stage. The industry group contains over 50 space companies, ranging across the entire space sector supply chain. Space Scotland works with industry on a number of key properties that are focus areas with the Scottish Space Strategy, including sustainability and equality, diversity and inclusion.
Working Groups in these areas have led to the development of the first Space Sustainability Roadmap, which was launched in 2021, ad and EDI Guidance Pack to support business broaden their scope of engagements across all segments of the community and workforce. Space Scotland pioneers to push the boundary of how the Space sector can operate in the future, with sustainability and diversity at the heart of its processes.
