Job Description

Fundraising Officer

Location: Fully remote in the UK

Salary: £35k per annum with 25 days annual leave.

Reporting to: Philanthropy Manager

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Full time

The Role

We are seeking a highly organised, pro-active and motivated Fundraising Officer to work closely with the Development Team to deliver GLAN’s fundraising strategy. This is a hands-on, generalist role suited to someone with fundraising experience who is ready to take on responsibility across multiple income streams while continuing to develop their skills.

You will play a central role in growing unrestricted income, with a particular focus on individual giving, community and challenge events, and small trusts and foundations. You will regularly engage with GLAN’s supporters, provide updates on key developments in our cases, and act as the first point of contact for individual donors and fundraisers. As GLAN continues to build a pipeline of new supporters and diversify its income, the role will suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, varied environment and taking ownership of day-to-day fundraising activity.

This is an exciting time to join GLAN. In 2026, we will be launching a wave of new cases to challenge human rights abuses and environmental crimes. We maintain excellent relationships with our loyal base of grant funders, have recently implemented a growing individual giving programme, and have secured our first charity places in the London Marathon. You will join a passionate and experienced team and play a key role in helping us meet our fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

·        Lead on the coordination of community and challenge events, supporting participants to maximise their fundraising potential

·        Manage supporter journeys for challenge and community fundraisers, from sign-up through to post-event stewardship

·        Support flagship events such as the London Marathon, ensuring participants feel well supported and connected to GLAN’s work

Trusts and Prospect Research

·        Research prospective funders and individual donors, creating profiles to support the development of a strong prioritised prospect pipeline

·        With support from the Development Team, prepare and submit applications to small and medium-sized trusts and foundations

·        Contribute to cases for support and other written fundraising materials

Stewardship, Reporting and Operations

·        Support donor reporting and impact updates across individual and trust funders

·        Coordinate with finance colleagues to ensure donations are recorded accurately, acknowledged promptly and allocated correctly

·        Maintain accurate records of fundraising activity and ensure the donor database is kept up to date

·        Support the management of reporting schedules and stewardship opportunities

Team and Organisational Support

·        Contribute ideas and research to help identify and test new income streams

·        Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to translate complex legal and programme work into accessible supporter communications

·        Ensure fundraising activity complies with relevant regulation and best practice, including GDPR and fundraising standards

Skills and Experience

·        Ideally 3 years’ experience in a fundraising or closely related role

·        Experience supporting individual giving, community fundraising or challenge events

·        Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft clear and engaging public-facing fundraising communications for different audiences

·        Confidence communicating with supporters by email and phone in a professional and enthusiastic manner

·        Experience of online desk-based research, including researching funders or prospective donors

·        Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously

·        Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with data, reporting and financial information

·        Good all-round administrative and IT skills, including experience using spreadsheets and databases

·        Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with colleagues, including in a remote working environment

·        A genuine interest in human rights and environmental justice
